I am a SnowtrooperMay 21st, 1980, The Empire Strikes Back was released in theaters. I was 5 years old. My mom took me to see it less than a month after it was released. It is one of my earliest memories. Of that movie, the image that stuck out the most to me was the beginning when Snowtroopers break into the command center, followed by Darth Vader. My mom took me to A New Hope, but I was only two, so I don't remember. At least I now know I went. I think my first New Hope experience, that I remember, may have been the radio drama. So the first loyal soldier of the Empire I saw on the big screen, was the Snowtrooper.I have always collected Snowtroopers in different forms. Action figures, photocards, and statues. When I saw that there were people in Stormtrooper costumes, I wanted to be a part of that too. In Feburary 2005, I joined the local Fan Force here in Spokane, the Spokantina. One member had Stormtrooper armor, and he looked amazing. He was the only member of the 501st in town that I knew of. About a year after that, he joined the military and moved away. September, 2007, someone I hadn't met before, invited anyone from our group to participate in the JDRF walk. Turns out he's a Sandtrooper. My family walked in the event in Jedi robes, then found Chris in his armor. We talked and took photos, and I saw how everyone reacted around him. I decided that day I would be a trooper someday. I started saving and waiting for the right opportunity. That opportunity came this February. I joined the blizzardforce.com forum, and found someone selling their complete Snowtrooper outfit. I told my wife, and I sent a message to the seller. And now, it's mine. And, yes, I am a little short for a Stormtrooper. [Also, welcome to all of you finding me through the FU.] |
