Ahem.
....I'd like to play it too. But it's sooo gooood I don't want it to end. I love that universe and those characters and I love trying to figure out the Reapers (I don't buy that 'this is how they reproduce' bullshit. Something else was happening there.) I don't want answers, or endings....I want....to replay the game forever.
I role-played the hell out of mine as well. And I didn't loose anyone in my first playthrough! I didn't even loose Kelly, Gabby, or Kenneth either! I felt like fucking Batman.
Of course, now I have the net and I'm looking at the decisions and what affected what....and I over thought A LOT. I sent the crew back to the Normandy and sent Jack as their leader for two reasons....she broke out of Purgatory in great fashion so I knew nothing would stop her.....and I was deathly crazily afraid she was going to frag Miranda at some point in the end. And if she was elsewhere she couldn't.
Also, the game was sickly brilliant in having that cute sex scene with Tali and reminding me why I always loved her....and then having me send a tech specialist into a small vent by herself....risking her life and the lives of the fire team I told to go in (lead by Miranda).
I so so so wanted to send in the Professor or Legion or Jacob....but I knew, just knew that Tali had to be the one. And I had to do my job in supporting her. Which lead to me charging Harbinger at one point and meleeing him to death with my bare hands because Tali said, "Help me, Shepard!" in a way that made me snap and nothing was standing before me and saving her life.
That finale is bloody brilliant.
I missed you too.
OH! That reminds me of my favorite line in the whole game.
After Tali's quest to prove her innocence I went around talking to people. Kal'Reegar was still alive (I was too afraid Adam Baldwin would die to let him fight the Colossus) and I talked to him again. And at the end Tali and Reegar had this little bit.
Kal'Reegar- Farewell, ma'am. Tali'Zorah- It's just Tali. Kal'Reegar- I'll work on that, ma'am.
It was all in the delivery! Brilliant. I wanted to hug his way too smart for his job ass!
Also that whole mission is foreshadowing for the next game. God, I hope Reegar and Tali make Admiral and stop their destructive path towards war before the whole universe burns for it.
So when you kept saying that you wished that the first game would let you romance anyone you were really saying Garrus. I never thought of him like that.
But Tali was adorable. Thane was great. Jack was alright (way too much crying). And I just found out you can sleep with Kelly Chambers. I totally would...if you know....I didn't see what the ending of the game did to her. That weird video graphic that Thane gets whenever he remembers....that's a harbinger for things to come if I ever saw one.
Liara now seems to be the best one to stay loyal to. Ash and Kaidan aren't worth the trouble...Liara's just gone temporary evil.
But OH MY GOD what a good game! On my fourth playthrough romancing Miranda. It does nothing for me. I find her boring but with an interesting concept. The whole designed for greatness and feeling burdened by it thing is decent.
Best laugh in the game goes to the turran and quorian in the bar on the asari world Illum. She's talking about her breakup with a human male and I feel that's BioWare's response to the whole "I wanted to romance the cute, sweet, smart techie girl down in engineering." It's only slightly funnier than the game salesmen in the Citadel for its 4th wall breaking....only because I was totally screaming Tali's the best choice on the ship.
I played Mass Effect 2 with my male Shepard and it was awesome. Then I did my FemShep and...goddamnit! The romance with a guy is simple. There's:
Miranda- Looks good but boring. Jack- Fucking crazy. Tali- Oh look, the one I wanted last game!
SO that was easy. But as a FemShep? I started the game fully thinking Jacob. He was a good guy, he wasn't whiny, he was strong. He was, perhaps, the best BioWare male romantic lead in the game. I played....and then inadvertently hit on Garrus.
Totally didn't know he was a romantic option. I thought about it...and me and Garrus...nah. We're peers. We're friends...it's not right. So I stayed with Jacob.
And then I found out that Thane was romantic as well. I saved and quit. I went into the front room and had the gayest conversation ever with my sister about which man I'd rather date in a video game. Jacob's a good man, no doubt...but Thane's cool and mysterious and he calls me an alien Valkyrie!
So....first off good going BioWare you made this hard to choose, and second off I went with Thane. I broke Jacob's heart and felt terrible for it and I've totally hitched my wagon to a burning ....erm...hitch with a dying alien assassin boyfriend. But holy fuck this game's awesome just for this alone.

(Also Kaidan and Ashley are whiny bitches when you meet them....Kaidan more so. I wanted to smile and enjoy hearing Carth in another BioWare game not want to shoot him in the head.)
