Rant.Those of you who haven’t had the wool pulled over your eyes will no doubt be aware of Roosterteeth’s steady decline from quality videos into mediocre media. Now, this subject been aired and argued over many times in the forums, journals and bars, but I just wanted to give my two cents. I felt that I needed to write this after the response to a comment I made on a recent piece of media.In the opening paragraph I refer to some kind of view obscurity through manipulation, now while that aspersion is a tad outlandish it’s simply an analogy I’m using to demonstrate a point. Now, RT has not churned out any truly funny material since the final episode of The Blood Gulch Chronicles. The new ‘super serious’ format for episodes of Red vs. Blue is simply destroying the show, in fact it already has. How many laugh-out-loud moments were to be found in the latest series, ‘Recreation’? This emphasis on action has lead to an exponential increase in so-called action scenes, but it’s just not engaging. I really don’t give a flying fuck if you think you can make fancy vehicle explosions because you have the advantage of saved films. All the battles just end up being repetitive at best and beyond dull at worst. Spend the time your time on writing half-decent material, rather than on action scenes, because I want RvB to make me laugh, not to show me what I could be doing on my Xbox right now, you know, playing Halo 3. Machinima has never really had battle scenes, because it’s near impossible to pull off stylistically, and Roosterteeth’s insistence upon using these laborious exhibitions as a device to entertain is just embarrassing. Anyway, my point coming out of this; the less intelligent amongst us still believe that Red vs. Blue episodes are as good as they ever were, and if you go back and watch any single episode of TBGC you will deem that to be untrue as I do, unless of course, you’re a complete moron who thinks Caboose throwing a spike grenade into a wall that it’s so darn hilarious that it needs it’s own fucking T-Shirt. Oh wait, sorry, that’s Burnie. I’ll cover the shorts in brief. There were some light hearted chuckle moments as it were and it’s nice to see Roosterteeth go back to an all-comedy formula, rather than a mishmash of ‘interwoven’ ‘action’ and ‘comedy’ that RvB has become. Now, onto the comics. The comics are the reason I’m writing this. It’s their poor quality, twinned with the idea that anything RT churns out is unmitigated comedy gold, which really infuriates me. Put bluntly, there’s a reason why Griffon doesn’t write episodes of Red vs. Blue. Every so often a mildly amusing comic will come along, but these moments are rare, the majority are shit-stains. Yet, the Plebs still praise these abominations with nonsensical compliments: ‘Oh lawl Gus, you won’t be doing that.’ You’re not in the fucking comic. Gus can’t hear you. Gus doesn’t care what you think. In fact, Gus thinks you’re an idiot too! As of late, a certain Bar of Bears has taken to posting loldogs and therein, successfully demonstrate that mind numbingly stupid internet excrement is appreciated by the majority of the site. Aside from that being a sad fact, I witnessed something even sadder after posting this yesterday in a similar vain to the loldogs.  Here's a link to the post, I'm sure it's amassed more mods by now. It was sad, but not surprising. Now, I don’t believe that Luke McKay is a great artist by any stretch of the imagination, he could easily be replaced by any budding artist from anywhere in the world, he’s nothing special. At least his replacement would likely be less of a tit drawing White Knight. I mean, has any one actually read ‘Balls 2 That’ and I mean read, Christ knows McKay can’t even spell most of the time. Maybe, I’m overreacting to this modded comment, maybe, but I’ve finally lost faith in any of the site’s members. It’s quite sad that even McKay himself modded it and I certainly regret giving him the ego boost. He’ll probably be smiling and drawing a slutty RT user semi-nude now. Now, I’m sure if this journal becomes known throughout the site, then I will be subjected to ‘You couldn’t do any better’. If anybody is stupid enough to make those comments, then well, you’re a complete idiot. Let me say this once and once only; the basis for criticism is that something is bad, and you know why it’s bad, and you can evidence why it’s bad. It has nothing what so ever to do with being able to better it. For example, if you were on a bus and the driver stupidly crashed it, you’d call him a terrible bus driver, but do you think you could have done a better job? No. In the same way that just because I’m not a comedy writer doesn’t mean I can’t say that new RvB episodes are bad, it’s that I have the experience of watching numerous comedy shows over the course of many years to know what is funny and what is not.
