I finally figured out why I never see any other girls on XBox live. Granted, I'd say on average, most of the players are reasonably well-behaved, and it is sort of funny when I get asked, "Are you really a girl?", which is just a weird thing to be asked, boys, trust me on this.
So today I was online playing Halo 2 with my son and I ended up one-on-one with some random person who'd joined the game who was in an Elite skin (I was wearing my signature Pink Spartan Armor with Pink Yin-Yang Symbol). I went over to bludgeon him to death and he said, "Hey wait!"
"Yes?" I answered warily, wanting to get on with the bloodshed.
"Hey, here's a trick, turn around and face the Warthog."
Fearing where this was going I said, "How about we just fight?"
"No seriously, turn around."
Taking a huge mental sigh and praying that this moron wasn't going where I thought he was going, I turned around. Then I hear, "OK, now crouch down."
So... I had to kill him. I mean, my kid is sitting right there. Actually, I would have killed him anyway, but that's beside the point.
Seriously, ew.
The thing is, I've been married. I'm a mom. I've been around the block. So, whatever.
On the other hand, I know there are at least several hundred young ladies on RedVsBlue.com alone, presumably many play Halo on their XBox as well. There must be thousands more girls out there in the world who have XBox. And I would guess, that an experience like the one above might drive off some of the younger ladies permanently. Heck, it kind of gives *me* the willies.
So, boys, if you really want to meet some real life "Tex" (or those Gamer Girls you always see in the magazines), try to rein in some of your more base instincts, or at least boot the guys that can't control theirs.
Otherwise, how am I going to get other ladies to play with!?!?
Sorry! I seem to always be screwing up where I post. Is there a way to move my post to a different thread? Also, is there going to be a Search function anytime soon. I DID find the thread about website updates and it doesn't sound too promising....
My girlfriend, best-friend's wife, and female neighbor all play Halo 2. All of them would not be considered *great* players...but all three of them have made impossible sniper-shots to my forehead on many occasions. An example:
My best-friend's wife had a sniper rifle in Zanzabaar. She fired a shot through the cracks in the high wall, between the rotating-blade-of-death and it's ring, past the exploding barrels, into the doorway of the fort, into my Ghost...nothing but skull.
It was such an amazing shot that everyone stopped playing for 2 minutes to talk about it. I was flabbergasted.
ok what was that unnecessary aggression? anyway i think the reasons girls have all this trouble playing XBL is cuz most of the guys out there have never spoken to one before let alone had one talk back and they cant help being retarded like what happened to Elena. but do not fear these losers we must pity them.... or just put a shotgun to their brain stem what ever work for you.
wow i wouldnt want to meet you in a dark ally shoot first ask questions later ouch. Um as i was saying but you married you have a kid ur 40 and you play xbox and watch red vs blue. Dude you kid is so lucky!!! Just one question is it your xbox and xbl account or his?
It's so much fun when people do that. I was playing CS once, and i said i was a girl so people should take it easy on me. I was able to kill all of my teamates and the other team, and they didn't even do anything other than ask me to cyber. Some people are so stupid.
Funny as hell i think, if they knew you were a guy you would have been most definitely booted. give me the idea of getting a female friend to ware the head set and see what you could get away with. cuz theres no way to sound like a girl without sounding like donut from the internet vs real life PSA "hey big boy"

We've both got our own. Actually, my son had an XBL acccount first and then I went and purchased my own. Without my own account I couldn't do team slayer matches with him. I got sick of being "Guest 1" and only doing practice team-ups.
...so, yeah, I look to the outside world like a loner girl, I guess. Although I usually do say I'm "so-and-so's mom" if anyone asks. On the other hand, when I sign off, I am usually still in the living room. So I can hear from the TV what folks say about the "girl player" when I sign off. But I don't hold comments someone makes after I sign off against anyone, because that would be unfair.
And I agree, I am not condoning real-life violence against someone committing a creepy, yet virtual, offense such as this. (Although virtual payback was remarkably satisfying.) However, as online gaming becomes increasingly realistic and interactive, it will be interesting to see what becomes legally possible whilst in the guise of an anonymous gamertag. Additionally, it will be interesting to see how sociologists interpret gaming behavior in relationship to real-world criminality. But that is a can of worms that I would guess there is a thread for already and I don't want to get flamed for bringing it up.
what people like that give male gamers a bad image. and i wish to hunt each and every one of them down and smack them upside the head for how stupid they act.
I am a man and my account is Donut Zeke. People always ask if I'm a woman before I talk as I have light red armor. And then they make fun on me for the Donut part of my name. People need to watch RVB more.
I remember a fair few years back playing Quake online when I ended up in a one on one with a female player. I remember thinking that this was going to be a walkover and that I'd take it easy on her to begin with. This thought disappeared quickly as I fought with one of the most fierce players I'd came across. I managed to win the game by a single frag but I truly had my ass tanned. From that point on I had the utmost respect for female gamers.
You guys crack me up. I mean that in a nice way too. ;-)
I've seen several guys in "light red" armor. ;-) They say they go pink because it makes folks so mad to be killed by a pink Spartan. LOL. Also, I was once online and I was killed by someone with the gamertag of "A Baby Pony" or something like that. So every time I got killed, it would say, "You were splattered by a baby pony". LOL! And yes, I love that penny Arcade.
And I don't think the point I am making is so much whether you have to respect girls as gamers any more than you respect anyone on line as a gamer. Face it, a lot of guys are crappy players too. And a lot of girls are awesome players. I'm talking about respecting one another as human beings. I think the point is to not be obscene online.
Today I had to leave out of a match because one of the players decided that he would use the "N-word" over and over. [For those of you too young to know, the N-word is an incredibly insulting racial slur.] Yuck. I realize that one does not have to take an intelligence test to get an xbox live account, but good grief, are these people raised in caves? I mean, won't they have to function in society at some point when their parents stop letting them live in their basement? Anyone talking like that in Chicago would pretty much get a fistful of knuckles (if not a lawsuit) before the words left his lips.
Sigh.
I still have faith in humanity...but these morons are sucking the pleasure out of going online to play.
i agree cant we all just kill each other without racially motivated language. im english or "british" as i am deemed by most on XBL but until playing XBL i had no idea that so many americans have an extraordinary deep hatred for us, i cant begin to tell you how many times i heard "this is for the revolutionary war (insert curse word of chouse)" or "this is for George Washington" yes you guys won and i couldn’t be happier about it but I nor you were there so what has this to do with a 21st century shoot em up? dont get me wrong 80% of my friends list are americans and they are great people but its the people who spend my entire re-spawn time calling me a british ******* just cuz i talk differently who annoy the hell out of me.
Hell I'm American and I think I'd rather be british just for the accent. My granny is 100% English and i'm damn proud to even be 1/4.
Anywho, on the subject of female gamers: I always play video games. It sounds sad but thats most of my life. My female cousin barely plays be she has this uncanny ability to be a great pickup gamer. I fear her the first few times playing a new game and I've definately learned to not 'take it easy' on female gamers. They're just as vicious.
thanx guys while on the subject of british people. im just gonna clear up a misconception ive come across. one of my friends asked me "why do you guys drink so much tea?" so i asked him why he thought we drank alot of tea thinking it was just something he assumed for the stereotype but he replied "when im playing with british guy they often say ive got to go have my tea." “tea” in england is slang for dinner. so now you know
not all guys are like that, i mean, i know a lot are........but those are people who still live in their moms house and steal XBL from their neighbors. I really think that you should have killed him when he told you to do that, its wrong.
this thread is not about halo or halo 2 its about idiots on XBL we are merely using halo2 as it is possible the most played XBL game of people in the forum so go find someone else’s parade to rain on we are tiring to have a civilised discussion. p.s. YOU ARE NOT A MOD
