This has probably been said/asked a billion and a half times, but What did they do to the original Halo 2(the one from the first E3 demo). It seemed way better than what we got. What did they do with it? Is it possible to get? Will they ever release it?
A weekly update addressed that by saying that level was way too buggy to include in the final product. Which is a shame because it really seemed like it would've been fun.
It seems like MS forced Bungie to cut it in half so H3 could be XB360's killer app. So they were forced to have pretty much no plot development in Halo 2. Think about it... wouldn't the Halo 2 announcement trailer make the exact same amount of sense for Halo 3?
I think they could have waited another couple of months on it so we could see a fuller single player, and multi. I would love to play the hell out of that level though.
Yeah, that was a pretty awesome level. It was a shame they took it out. I liked the atmosphere and every thing about that level than the actual levels on Earth that made it into the game.
yeah, if you bought halo1 awhile after it had been out, there were some demos, one was bungie playing a whole segment of an earth level that we didn't get that looked awesome, then at the end it said halo2, but where is it?
eeessh give it a break the E3 demos that they release are never fully included.
halo 1's E3 vid had some of it's elements put into silent cartographer and as was the same with halo 2's E3 vid with all of it's audio bites and a few small locations included.
I think that after what they have said in the weekly updates people would give it a damn break and stop bashing this already dead subject.
and if you complain about features in the E3 vid then look at the halo 1 E3 vid. hell halo 1 was supposed to have spectres, energy swords for master chief, elite sized energy shields on the arm, along with many other doodads that never got in.
If you watch the documentary that came with the special edition disk, they actually created that first level before creating aynthing else for the game. Before that, they had only written it.
Since this topic is already revived I might as well just make a few observations about the Demo. For as great as the atmosphere within this short clip was there are a few things worth noting about it:
The Battle Rifle was a single shot weapon. For as cool looking as this level was it seemed to have the same problem (if not worse) as all the other levels in Halo 2 it was badly on rails. With the large Gauss Warthog section and a clip taking place during the level however this may just be a cue that this demo was only ever meant to be that... a demo. But with this demo it just leaves real Halo: CE fans thinking wheres the small battles and sieges of Covenant make shift bases gone?
I just don't feel that the XBOX was ever able to handle all that Bungie wanted to include within Halo2, take the flood! Did more than 5 of the small flood creepy crawly creatures ever appear at any one time? The XBOX simply couldn't handle it and Bungie knew it sure during the Limited Edition DVD some programmers were heard to have said that they only ever thought Halo 2 would have actually been like Halo 1.5 meaning that the true sequel was only ever going to occur on a next generation XBOX system...
The main thing Bungie has to sort out though is the way the Halo series is leaning more towards long range fighting as opposed to close range skirmishes. The Covenant just have to learn how to not stand out like idiots while you pick them off forcing you either to get in close or adopt your tactics.
ther are many times when i have seen more than 10 of the flud. play gravemind. ther is a lot of flood stuff there. the new mombasa level was just a demo anyways and not apart of the real game. if bungie was so into new mombasa, how were they able to put that out and then be able to change the story line and everything in the short amount of time between the release of the E3 demo and the release of halo2?
I believe that Halo 2 Bungie staff slacked off too much and when they finally managed to get to work, the Xbox couldn't handle everything. Just look at Halo CE: When you first met the flood there were tons of the little monsters and even on normal difficulty you could get attacked by over 10 combat forms. In Halo 2, there are less enemies.
look at the graphics difference. and the others are harder to kill i find for some reason. they did slack off though. i like the fact that those lil guys arent everywhere. took up ammo or time
