Are they really? I thought Kevin Smith was putting those characters to rest(..saying that Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was his last film with those "characters")
I'm a big Kevin Smith fan, but I don't really think Clerks needs a sequel. What could The Passion of the Clerks be but the same thing as the original, only 10 years later? Although that's not necessarily a bad thing, the original was funny as hell. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait 'til 2005 and see.
As BloodyWheel said , It is called Clerks 2: The Passion of The Clerks. It is set 10 years later. I don't entirely see the point in a second one either. Another thing 2 years ago Kevin Smith said he would never make a Clerks 2 Because every movie hes made since then has been a sequal to Clerks. But still i would like all the old stuff come back to like.

Kevin made a promise to Jason Mewes(Jay) that if Jason would quit drugs, complete rehab, and stay clean, he'd let him play Jay one more time. At the time he was thinking that Jason couldn't do it, but he did, and hence Clerks 2. Also, I don't see how anyone can get enough of Randall. I love that character.
ok well i am a very big Kevin Smith fan... but i think clerks 2 is a really bad idea... no matter how many times i watch clerks it just keeps getting funnier.... and some of the other movies were really funny.... then theirs Jasbsb... thats all i have to say... its like kevin smith tried a bit to hard... dont hate me its just my opinon... i think they should have ended the first clerks with the alt. ending where dante gets shot... theirs a way to end a comedy that the main character gets killed in the end.... well these are my opinon heh later guys
Well didn't jay and silent bob have a restraining order from the quick stop put on them, cause i know they made refrences to that in Jay and Silent Bob Stike back. Then again who are they to listen to restraining orders.
Could not stand the forst one. Big mistake if you ask me. It sounded like they were just reading the words of the paper. IF they do, give those guys some lessons!!!
I have never actually seen clerks, i want to see it but i can never find it on TV anywhere or in shops - but the 10th annaversery edition (look at the trivia on imdb.) is out (coming out) so that will be out in england soon.
Actually now that i think about it - i have only seen Dogma & J&SBSB from the "Clerks" series.
Clerks is my favorite KS movie, because I lived that life for like, 5 years. I even went to a wake on the clock. I think that his best movie is Chasing Amy. I think that JSBSB was pretty bad. Yeah, I can quote it, but it's like he tried to hard to please the fans. And as for the title, somone informed him that Trey Parker and Matt Stone named thieir episode of South Park 'The Passion Of The Jew', and he didn't want to bite that, so he's changing the title again. Originally, it was Clerks 2: Still Clerking. Either way, I think that this movie is going to be awesome.
I thought there already was a sequel, called Mall Rats. And wasn't there a sequel to that called Jay and Silent Bob Strikes back.
I enjoyed Clerks, it had wit and charm and clever dialogue. But every movie since has tried to get along with the same equation, but Mr. Smith's writing has gotten progressively less clever, and the charm has been steadily drained from each film.
Kevin Smith did say in An Evening with Kevin Smith (a must see for all fans) that essentially the script for Clerks 2 because Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. This time he has said that Clerks 2 will revolve around Dante and Randall, as in the original. Jay and Bob are the ONLY OTHER RETURNING CHARACTERS! This is from Kevin Smith himself on Viewaskew.com. He also stated that there will be no cameos from celebrities which in my opinion is a good thing. Sometimes the lesser known the actors the better the film can be, and it won't rely on big names to draw crowds.
I know Kevin said he'd never do it again, but he made a promise, so he's being a man and keeping his word to his best friend who is thankfully clean and sober, and most of all healthy. I applaud Smith for doing this. He is helping his friend out in his most dire time of need. He is getting people off of drugs.
In the Clerks X booklet he kinda comes off very sentimental towards the quickstop and basically said he wanted to go back. The story I think is supposed to be Dante and Randal finally getting their lives back together and leaving the store (I think)
As much as I have a love/hate realtionship with Smith films, the man is pretty arrogant and pompous, and he really needs to learn to do new stuff instead of the Easy Way Out. If he does the proposed Star Wars TV show, then he will never get out of the Fanboy Rut and his true potential as a filmmaker may be lost.
Man, some of you people aren't thinking...It's a sequel set TEN YEARS LATER! It's not going to be Clerks all over again. And as far as relating it in any way to Strike Back, please! Jay and SIlent Bob are not going to be main characters (ever again if there is a God). The movie is about Dante and Randall who, if anyone remembers actually have the potential to be a good base for a solid story. I don't think Smith is just staying with what he knows, because this isn't anything like Dogma, or Mallrats or anything else really. It's going to be a story of a couple of guys getting things together. The few times when the word sequel really means more of the same old shit is when it's "Freddie's New Final Nightmare: For Real This Time...Or Is It?" Don't judge a movie that's abrely in production based solely on speculation.
By the way, I respect everyone's opinion. Think what you will...you're just wrong.
In short, I'm looking foward to it. I do think that Smith is a very funny guy, but he isn't much of a director. Perhaps sticking to what he knows is the only thing he can do right now. He's on top of a goldmine with the characters he's established.
