i was reading my friend profile when i cam across this:

NBC announced today that the M.A.H.R. (Mothers Against Hard Rock) Foundation is trying to outlaw The Used and My Chemical Romance from 45 states across America. They are petitioning for it as we speak and if they get more signatures then those against it, then the bands (as well as many others including From First To Last, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, and Darkest Hour.) will be banned from most of the United States.

just comment ad say your in if you want to help

That's fucking retarded.
You can't ban music.
The type of music you listen to is an expression of yourself.
And isn't there such a thing as freedom of expression?

It's not about the bands that are going to be banned.
It's the principle of it all.
You cannot ban music.
There will always be fans who enjoy it. Wether or not they are allowed to own their CD's, or that band is allowed to go into that particular state for a show, the people will always have the music they enjoy.

It's in your mind.
Andy Dufresne said it best in "The Shawshank Redemption."
It's in here *points to brain*; Here *points to heart*. That's the thing with music. They can't take that from you.

Its fucking impossible to ban music, any kind of music. Those bands would most likely go over to england and sell music there, and kids would just get it off the internet.

Pluse isnt that against the law to ban music, its freedome of speech, wich is protected by the first admenment. If a hippi can make a statue of the president screwing a goat with the words middle east on it, put it in an art museum and get money for it, then there is no way in hell they can ban something like music.

This is besides the point and pretty much what I just said, but if they were going to ban music why rock. Ban rap, all they talk about is alchohal, weed , pills, hoes and bitchs, crack, dealing killing and gang fights. Now wich is worse, I mean really.

FUCKING CONSERVATIVES.

hold it, you cant just go targeting one group for this, im pretty sure that this group has a fair share of liberals as well. remember the PMRC? the group that tried to ban heavy metal while it was still young in the U.S.? that was composed of mostly liberals, led by Tipper Gore herself.

But ok, lets say this group is all conservative. You say its wrong because they are imposing censorship where it shouldnt be imposed. But then again, lets say this group is all liberal, im pretty sure a lot more people would not have a problem with it because many would believe that they are just "ridding the world of hateful/harmful music"

Now i dont think that any of these bands really are hateful, in fact i think they are all pussies, and i wouldnt mind being rid of them. the only reason that i oppose this still is because chances are that if the bands do get banned, what will stop this group from spreading and targeting more bands, or trying to increase censorship in other areas of media in the U.S.?

And yes, if anything, rap should be the target.

the first amendment (more specifically, freedom of speech) has limiits. But most music doesn't come close to violating those limits. The only thing I can think of is when Anal Cunt starts making songs devoted to telling specific people they're gay. But besides that, I can't think of anything.

Honestly though, people haven't been able to ban violent video games. So what makes anyone think that anyone is going to be able to ban a band for saying "fuck" once in a while?

Someone's kid probably killed themselves, and then they found out that the kid listened to Atreyu, and were like "oh my gosh, that dreadful death metal that is spawned from satan made him do it!" and started a movement. Even though people gravitate towards music about suicide because they already feel that way. Not the other way around. Dumbasses.

If any of you morons actually believe that there is an actual, influential organization called Mothers Against Hard Rock...then that's exactly what you are, a moron.

Mothers who are strongly against 'hard rock' could ban certain music from their own homes and prevent their own children from listening to it, but no mother like that would actually have time to become a fanatic about it.

Just like someone started the 'Bush wants to ban anime' rumour, someone started this one. It's not true, so stop freaking out.

...and one last related point: The 'hard rock' industry in the United States is gigantic, the last thing the government would do is make the economy more shitty than it already is. Think logically...

From one of the sigs on the site...
