Now IGN has had several lists of the best 100 games. They have differed slightly, one of them was "the readers favorite 100 games" This one is thier personal favorites. This list is a whole lot better than the last two but I think it has some problems. They still have to annouce the top 30 games.
I love how they have some sleeper hits like Herzog Zwei for Genisis that are such great games. But Final Fantasy 10 is at 87? Ranked above FF7? They say some crap about how 10 was revolutionary or some bull crap like that. Kudos on the oldschool pc games though. I also Disagree with number 58 Super Smash Bro's for the Gamecube. Have always thought the games were second best to Gaurdian Heroes and games like that.
The Soul Caliber for DC is at 43, thats pretty pimp. I think its better than the second one. Definantly alot more ground breaking.
it won't let me see the top 10, page disabled or something. That list is stupid. Super Mario World owns Yoshi's Island. and BattleToads is a lot better than a lot of the crap on there.
#96 "mafia" popped out at me, I dont know if the rating is right, but I still remember that game because the last scene of the game still haunts me (not in a scary way, but in a damn that would suck kind of way)
Their perception of the top 100 games of all time is really really off. Final Fantasy VII should be in the top ten if not even closer to the top. So what if a game is really popular? It's popular because it's good and because tons of people like it. So just to seem "fair" dosen't mean they have to throw great games like it and others down in the 70-100 slots. I also agree with Magic_Elf. I beat GoW in about 7 or 8 hours, it was a fun game, well made, very few flaws(mostly about the storyline not making any sense...Sparatans losing to Barbarians? Please...) but there isn't a chance in hell that I would throw it in any top games of all time list just because game designers took time for once to make a game the right way.
HA, just looked at 30-20 and alot of them are a crock. You can argue that Half-life 2 is the best game ever, but its not. They made it better than what was on the PC previously, but did nothing spectacular, just what was expected. They didn't outdo themseles and go above and beyond. Halo should have been higher. BURNOUT 3 SHOULDN"T HAVE BEEN ON THE LIST!!! Where is SEGA RALLY? Where is VIRTUAL RACING? Where is DAYTONA USA? DAMN.
I remember the one fan selected top 100 list that I looked at. They had God of War at number 6 and FFVII wasn't even on the list. It was quite possibly the stupidest list I had ever seen compiled. There were multiple versions of Madden on the list, even though no sports game should be included on anything other than a best sports game list. I will try to find a link to it and post here.
Honestly there is no way games like RE4 and GoW deserve to be in the top 50. Sure they are great games, but of all time? No. I really think IGN went half great games, half popular games. Oh well, its always fun to laugh at the inanity of IGN.
i agree with GoW, but i honestly think re4 deserves being put up in the top fifty, the graphics, the gameplay, the story, the interactivity.... it was so cinematic and you actually got to be apart of it instead of freaking cut scenes. a first. that game seriously blew me away, the first, second and third time i played it.... time to go for 4...
I agree with Krdu, RE4 was a revolutionary step in the series, not to mention an excellent game. Pretty much as close to perfection as you can get in the console age.
Some games are good some games arent, nessacary in my eyes. Some games should be that and some should be deleted. its mostly all opinions from the people at IGN.
I disagree with ICO, and ROME TOTAL WAR. IT doesn't have the multiplayer and coolness that war. III does.

While I do agree with some choices, I find myself disagreeing with most. FF7 should definitely be ranked higher, if only for its influence on RPGs in general. I'm more pissed that FF6 is ranked at an anemic 56, though. I know I'll piss off a lot of FF7 fans/fanboys, but I still say that FF6 remains the greatest FF game by far, and belongs in the Top 10. FF4 belongs perhaps more in the 30s or 40s. Also, Fallout at 55, while Wave Race 64 is at 37?! I call bullshit.
Now, I know it's IGN's list, and they're entitled to their opinion, but there are simply too many egregious offenses to name. This is easily one of the worst lists since Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists or 100 Greatest Artists (both were pretty terrible, it's hard to say which was worse).
Ico beat Metal gear Solid? I think this list is broken. Ico was a smart idea, but damn it was boring. Metal Gear Solid is one of the best games I ever played on the Playstation, and I still want to play it again.
Its official i can never listen to anything ign says ever again. I mean seriously if you can put ff 7 at #88 of the top 100 games ever then either you have mental problems or you have been slapped around too much by a flounder as a kid so you have lost all of your ability to notice a quality game. O I can say some inappropriate things about ign, but that wouldn't be nice now would it.
