Dude, is anyone else hooked on this show? I saw it when it premiered a few weeks ago and got sucked in. Not only is it a well-produced show, but they seem to have a lot of fun making it, and they don't take themselves too seriously--something I like.
For those who aren't aware, it's on Wednesday nights at 10 PM Eastern on the Discovery Channel.
Top Gear used to be really boring a few years ago, but I love how they've jazzed it up with all of these cool experiments and hilarious moments. Definitely a great show to watch.
I love top gear! I'm suprised it took so long to get to america because its been goin since 1978. My favourite car they reviewed was the maclaren SLR it's just amazing and the sound hohoooo yes. My brother's friend just imported some japanese car that jeremy clarkson did a good review on, called a mira something, it has a .6 litre engine but it has a turbo lol. He only bought it because clarkson gave it a good review. I'm glad they didn't just remake the show for the america audience but i bet they'll take out all the bad stuff they say about anything american, i hope they don't it's some of the funiest stuff.
I'm glad they didn't remake it like they did scrapheap challenge because junkyard wars was just absolutely terrible, those presenters just ruined it for me, they just seemed so fake and every little thing was writin for them by someone else, they had no personality. And I've seen them do it to other shows *cough* red dwarf *cough*, although i got some laughs from how bad the pilot was.
Its a fun show. Although I think recently they've started running out of ideas. The races between Clarkson and the other two have been overdone. And sometimes you feel that its just a giant ego-trip for Jeremy (the most recent season, where he has to evade 'snipers' to test a car, then just ignores the tests results being the prime example).
I'm sad. Top Gear has just rapped up the current series in the UK! :(
The show is so much better in it's newer style than in the old days (though, it was really unfair how the BBC kept throwing money at Jeremy to get him back, and the rest of the crew are now making an inferior motoring show on five, or has it been cancelled?).
Oh well, there's always UKTV People (the 24-hour Jeremy Clarkson channel, lol).
I completely disagree, you cant run out of ideas on a car show, they review new cars every week, thats what the shows about. The little races between Clarkson, James and Hamond always have a point, the point having to do with the cars. I admit that the snipers thing was a bit pointless but it just showed how good the maneuverability of the porsche was by putting it in a situation where it had to move quickly in a small space, the snipers were just there for show and to give Clarkson an insentive to move and try maneuvers that he wouldnt do normally if the snipers werent there.
From what I can tell they don't seem to massacre it too badly for the American audience. Of course, having not seen the show in the UK it's hard to say for sure.
I just watched my first episode of this funny and fantastic show. (The UK version) My friend had a copy from another friend and well that's not the point. I really hope the version we get is not totally butchered to all get out.
i would have to say that Top Gear is one of the best shows to ever leap the Atlantic. i've seen both the UK and the US version and they do take out some of the good jokes and the do cut an paste some of the episodes but all in all its a great tv show.
top gears like the best show on tv, the winter olympics 1 was prettv cool, it made me laugh loads when richard hammond nad that other one with long hair (i always 4get his name) kept falling down the ski slope
clarkson was on friday night with jonathan ross awhile back, just after the yanks gave top gear a grammy or something, and said, the show isn't drematical changed, only something about commercial endorsments, and they take some of the jokes out too. undouatably the best bit of the winter olymipics special, was hammster biulding the snow barrier on the wrong place, classic
