Hello all and welcome to the new edition of the popular Name that Movie Game, founded by Jasontim. Since the rules have been so well refined over the previous seven (or so) editions(as posted by jasontim, Cheshire_Cat, J666Diablo and explosive24), I’m just going to go over them again.
OFFICIAL RULES OF THE GAME:
1. No SPAM posting (several guesses in a row or several chat messages in a row).
2. Only one specific guess per post.
3. Unless otherwise stated by poster, clues will be issued every 5-8 guesses or 8-10 minutes, depending on the number of people currently in play.
3. If poster is able to stump people after 4 fair clues the said poster will get mod points by all participants of current game.
4. If a person guesses correctly, said person will get mod points by all participants of current game.
Just a couple of things on what to post:
1. Keep it to movies that have actually played on the silver screen in the U.S. and Australia. To verify this you can check out IMDB.COM and under OTHER information on the Left hand side, click the RELEASE DATE.
2. Only one scene should be posted at a time, it gets way too confusing with more then one. To avoid multiple posts, announce that you're going to host a shot.
3. IF you're going to post, stick around! If you plan on leaving soon, don't post, unless your going tell another person the answer so they can take over for you.
4. If you plan on posting a movie scene from a web-page, remember to remove the name of the movie from the link!
5. The scene captured must be featured in the movie for at least 5 seconds.
SO, in addition to the rules here is an example of what NOT to post:
Why is this a bad screen shot you ask? Because it .. (a) It shows an obvious character/actor in the shot and (b) has the name of the movie in the image link.

argh! its like some sort of weird paradox! i keep getting sent to the same place but it keeps telling me to go somewhere else but then im sent here and it happens all over again!
FREE DVD PLAYER (windows) Download the classic version of media player. It had dvd support built in. Media Player Classic Once downloaded. Simply extract the exe and run mplayerc.exe File>Open DVD Locate the shot you want to capture and hit pause (spacebar will pause) File>Save Image Change save type to jpg and name it something and choose a location you can find. And save.
TO UPLOAD Goto Image Shack Click on “browse” and select your captured file. Then hit “host it!” Once it’s uploaded you’ll see a screen with a bunch of codes. The 8th one down labeled “Direct link to image” copy that address and then in the RvB forum paste with the [1mg]link[/1mg] tags (replace the 1's with i's)
PowerDVD 6 First thing you will want to do is configure the capture settings.
So open up power dvd (don’t play a file, just start the program) Right click in the main window and select “configuration”. Select the “Player” tab and then hit the “advanced” button located near the bottom of the window. Select the “Snapshot” tab. The 2 choices you are most concerned with are. “Capture to Clipboard” (default) and “Capture to file” (recommended) At this point I would advise changing to this. This was you can take several captures and choose from the lot afterwards. You will most likely want the Capture Aspect Ratio to be that of the original video so make sure that “Original video source size” is selected. You can also choose a custom size just make sure and hit that “keep aspect ratio” check box. Now that it’s all setup go ahead and hit ok and then ok again. You are now setup to capture stills. You can do this by pressing “c” or the capture button on the control plate. Usually the button right under the title number display, looks like a camera.
When you capture to file it will store a bmp in you My Documents folder in the CyberLinkPowerDVDSnapshot folder. If you have any image app you can convert the bmp to a compressed image type like jpg.
well heres an idea for a spin off game...its like king of the hill. ill say first i came up with it i dont know how but i dont post much because i dont like waiting around for 3 hours when no one wants to guess or its a hard one unlike the old days when there was like10 or more people on at once now days im lucky when i see 3 people guessing at once.
any ways i figure it would run like this who ever is king of the hill post the screen cap in his/her journal or imagaes...but the thing is no clues...if no one guesses the movie with in 2 or 3 days then you post another one so you stay king of the hill untill some one does guess one right. now if you have no more caps or just want to give some one else a chance you can give clues. i also figure that who ever is playing the game wiii put a link to whoever is king of the hill at that moment in their about section or what ever that thing is above your journal so that others will know who is king at the moment. i also thought of this cause some people are a bit stingy about giveing away mods to the people who post caps sometimes. and sometimes those who even guess right so i was thinking of some point thing if the person can keep people guessing for a while. i also figure that the person can only stay king for so long. same rules for the movies applay as in this game but i figure we one hard one here and there.
now i dont now if covered everything that i thought of but thats what i can remember right now. if it does sound like something a bit different that might be fun other wise ill just drop it...but with it being a bit slow around here on this thread some times at least this game would always be running
I think this one. The other one had way too many posts in the beginning before any of the rules were really mentioned, and that's just a recipe for disaster for any new players who come in for the game. Diablo and I opened this new thread and reposted all the rules and the Guide for capturing shots.
We're hoping people use this one as the other didn't have the greatest starts (I believe there was some vulgarity in one of the first posts regarding rape for those who don't already know the rules..so.. ta-da - new one)
Also, if you're wondering why its the "Boomsitck Edition" it's because it's, to quote the great Bruce Campbell:
that's his idea for Journal Posts. It has a similar theme to this game but I consider it a separate entity. If you all would like to play, set something up in your journals/user entries for it with Revo..
This thread will continue to be the Regular NtMG with screen caps and clues.
as cat said it has nothing to do with this thread....but i posted it in here just cause it would be the same people playing. well i posted an image in my images section...made it somewhat easy to start with.
