Yes , if I'm lost in the movie and Miles away from reality I call that a good movie , or if it has songs and you watch over and over till you know the lyrics by heart
The trailer has to be nice. It's got to show nothing of the storyline! It's got to be loud! And it's got to have a different style then any of the other crap I see.
Oh gosh, yes... I've been sucked into crappy movies so many times because the trailer was just so good... and it made the movie look so appealing and mysterious... then i go into the theatre and realize I've been totally ripped off.
Well, if I'm going to a movie looking for a great cinematic experience. It has to be good storyline, great characters, I have to be able to connect with it somehow emotionally. I want to see good directing and camera angles, etc etc. I am an actor, so I look at how the actors are doing their characters and how they convey different emotions... bla bla.
As a normal person who is just going to a movie to be entertained, I just want it to entertain me. Hell, some people call Freddy Got Fingered the worst movie ever made. I was entertained, I laughed, therefore... not so bad. I have only walked out of 2 movies or stopped watching to movies because I decided it wasn't worth my time to watch. 1. Solaris. 2. Legally Blonde 2.
I have a wide range of taste, and i can tolerate a lot from a movie, even if there's only one aspect that really draws me in. But for a movie to truly be great, it's got to have interesting justifiable visuals. A story line that, if not unique, is told uniquely. Acting that shows some insight into the craft. And a resolution that doesn't spell everything out for me.
Also, in general, i find that if more than two celebrities are involved in any way, then it's not going to be a great picture. Crash may be an exception, but i don't even know if Don Cheedle really counts as a celebrity.
