ok heres the deal... i beat the game once, so i decided to beat it again with the alt. costumes, i did, but the gay part is that after you beat gannondorf, in the last 2 or 3 cutscenes linky is wearing THE ORIGINAL OUTFIT!!!!!! i mean cmon nintendo dont start half assing stuff, other than that the games great =)
Apparently 2 dungoens were cut from the final game in order to have the "Triforce Quest" instead, which is a really infuriating thing to know. I would have rather done two dungoens where one has four pieces and the other has the rest rather than sails a total distance of about 80,000 miles just to get them all. AND havign to pay 400 rupees to get each map translated! grrrr....
it is a great game but the graphics were just more cartoony and made it look diffrent rather than any other zelda game if it had the same style graphics as OoT which made the characters look more life like then it would have been better to play but i agree the smoke was a pretty funky thing to watch it just had loads of spirals in it to make it look cool butagain just to cartoony for me.
yeah i find that thats kinda the point in CELL SHADED graphics, it makes it look cartoony, you know, because it's drawn like a cartoon. Sorry to sound patronising but on my list of priorities when i buy a game graphics is dead last. Gameplay comes top and windwaker ruled somewhat in that department.
on the subject of the thread topic i haven't finished the game in alt. costumes yet. I was too busy trying to get all them damn sculptures!
I agree that it was shitty for Nintendo to be lazy like that but hey, it happens.
Ocarina, is only great if you can play it on an N64. Otherwise, the game cube port will make you want to kill people because of how bad the target lock is. That said, I've got some solid reasons why I prefer Wind Waker.
1) First there's the control. Windwaker just has better control all around, hands down. I especially love Link's 'parry' moves.
2) THE MOTHER FUCKING CAMERA!!!!! I could type pages about how infuriating the spastic camera is on OoT is, but I'll just let my capitalized/emboldened/underlined words speak for themselves. I just abou tpeed myself when I saw I could adjust the camera on WW.
3) No more Navi. I swear everytime I hear the word 'listen' anymore I twitch and my blood pressure goes up.
4) No Stahlchilds (?sp). Running across Hyrule field at night as young link gets real old real quick.
5) Improved graphics. As a fan of anime, I saw WW as an improvement. It's lack of hard lines was refreshing. You almost couldn't tell that there were polygons.
Now I guess a lot of people are going to say "BUT WHAT ABOUT ALL THE FUCKING SAILING!!" or somethign along those lines. I for one, loved it. The dynamics were very much like sailing in real life to the point where I could actually tack, which for those who don't know is basically sailin gin a zigzag to go up wind.
Well, as a long time, hardcore Zelda fan, I have to say, I had mixed emotions about the wind waker.
It didn't have OoT's charm. And it wasn't quite as exciting as MM.
It comes NOWHERE close to LttP, that game is excellent beyond words.
So, are my issues with WW due to my increasing fear at noticing the fact that The Legend of Zelda has been going down hill the last 10 years?
And am I going to get confirmed on it if Twilight Princess lets me down?
I'm really looking for an out of the park success on this one. That was I can return to WW and TRULY take in it's ups and downs. Because for now, it's just a scary piece of a very unfortunate puzzle...
In reply to the_toad, #17: You posted you rfirst post about htis while i was typing up mine, but I see your reasoning and Agree with you.
I also agree with the commentsabout the triforce quest. I inadverntently destroyed the gold ship with out realizing it and literately spent days looking for that last piece.
Also, just curious on people views on fourswords- is it worth me picking up? I have the gameboy player if that matters.
if by player you mean link up cable and by views on it you mean how i feal about it then well. its funn if you can get three friends with three gbas and three cables then yes by all means youl have a blast but if youl only play first player than its lame.
sigh...i feel like me and my friends are the only people who didnt like windwaker. i really dont think it was that great at all. i guess i just expected more out of it. but twilight princess is on its way thankfully. i think my major complaint with WW was lack of dungeons. it just wasnt as exciting.
AGAIN I CANNOT STRESS THIS MORE... when you play with the alt costume your grandma is not holding anything or so it seems she says and i quote "these are special clothes made from special fabric only the honest can see." as it would seem you the player are not honest till you have defeated gannon and sealed him away with possibly the best finishing move EVER.
tell you one thing i liked about WW was the fact Link had deeper pockets than in his pervious games. i hated hvaing a limit of 500 reupees ( or how ever u spell it)
The Ganon battle was a bit disappointing. I loved sword dueling him, but hated how quickly the battle was over! The puppet boss you fought before him was harder. It was also cool to team up with Zelda. They could have done a lot more with that battle, but I think they rushed it at the end. The finishing move was pretty sweet, though. Ain't no bottle of aspirin big enough to cure the headache Ganondorf had after that!
My biggest complaint with Wind Waker was that, big as the world was, it was largely empty space. Sure there were neat dungeons and intersting characters and all, but the game failed to live up to its full potential. I didn't mind the graphics style of the game a whole lot, I just wish they had made it a little edgier, you know? Ganondorf could have been a lot more threatening, too. (Actually, he's never had a real presence in any of the games. He's always some distant shadow looming over the horizon, but you don't see him doing a whole lot. I hope in the next game, if he is the primary villain, he's more the antagonist he should be.)
