So there's an article about this in the newest game informer and I'm rather stoked personally. I thought Dawn of War turned out really well and I'm hoping this game will get a lot of attention too. Does anyone have any more information like dates of release or anything?

It's based on fantasy and from what I can tell the playable races are dwarves, Orcs and goblins, High elves and Dark Elves which kinda annoys me as okay the orcs and dwarves I can agree with but whats the point of having 2 elves I think they should have had high elves and then maybe either skaven, chaos or the undead.

Never say its annother wow, wow will be so much less cool than this.

The races are

greenskins (orcs and goblins will probably work like male and female)
dwarf
highelf
darkelf
empire
and chaos.

Im mostly curious about how the conqureing citys will work i assume that factions will get quests to take a path to the city while the other tries to stop them or something like that.

and the point of 2 elves is because they are basicaly arch foes maliketh of the darkelves is the son on the high elf phoenix king Aenarion and tyrion is supposed to be him reborn so there is a good rivalry going already plus they had to use the factions that occasionaly joined forces with each other because it dosent happen often outside those 6.

Also i realy wanna see heros like tyrion and archaon

Q: Can you clear up the timeline/history issues? Does the Age of Reckoning take place before, after, or instead of the Storm of Chaos?

A: And this was easily the second most popular question. The answer is simply that we're none of the above. This answer comes to you from our lead writer, one of Mythic's many Matts - Matt Daniels: "The Age of Reckoning is set in the "modern" Warhammer world. This is the world in which Karl Franz is the Emperor in Altdorf, Finubar sits upon the Phoenix Throne, and the High King of the Dwarfs is Thorgrim Grudgebearer. That's as specific as were going to get, in order to allow ourselves the maximum creative flexibility in developing the game."

Just read this which sets the time it's going to be in should be good to meet people like Karl and Thorgrim.

Bascially they were saying that each race is matched up with it's own nemesis. So in teh first expansion there will be a good and evil pairing of nemesii.

Rumour has it the first expansion will include Skaven. The logical good guy nemesis I would think would be Lizardmen.

The classes for Greenskins and Dwarfs have been revealed.
Greenskins: Black Orc(Tank), Warrior Orc(Fighty), Goblin Shaman(Magic) and a Goblin Squig Herder(Pets)
Dwarf: Ironbreaker(Defence Warrior), Hammerer(Aggressive Warrior), Runesmith(Enchanter) and Engineer(Guns and stuff).

A 40k one would be sweet but I could live with this. I haven't played an MMORPG since FFXI so I'm looking forward to a new one. I do hope it has a good variety of weapons and armors. I think it's the stuff like that that makes games like Diablo 2 so addicting.

In reply to DrMoogerbil, #20:

I know the feeling. But the Warhammer fantasy RTS is in production, so thousands of people will be able to build armies of massive size without the fine tipped brushes.

The MMORPG looks cool, but if it is pay2play, count me out.

Well for chaos, Chaos warrior is a definate, Beastman Gor would be a nice one to see, Wouldn't be surprised if a Chaos Sorceror of some kind was included and possibly a daemon as well. My only beef with Chaos at the moment is that there aligned to Tzeentch only which while not a bad god I would have liked to be able to choose which god to serve.

Lots of games seem to focus on just one god though. Dawn of War has had a lot of Khorne representation so mixing it up will be nice for a change. As much as I would have loved to get Thousand Sons in Dawn of War I can live with Tzeentch in a fantasy MMO. I also liked how they were doing a visual representation of a characters level (ie, higher level dwarves have longer beards, higher level orcs are bigger with more trophies) but I haven't heard anything about what they'll do for Chaos. Come to think of it I haven't heard much about this game in a while.

Well it's the fact it's a MMO so I would expect to customise more not your stuck with one chaos god and thats it I was thinking more along the lines of one chaos unit for each god or something. Oh well at least it ain't Nurgle.

I agree that it would be great to do that but at the same time it would also make it seem like there are 8 character choices, half of them being chaos. A khorne character would be nothing like a Tzeentch so there couldn't be much overlap of abilities or skills and it might be a little unfair to have one race get so many options when the other teams didn't get the same options. If they could incorporate enough for all of the races to have that much customization I would love it though. As it is, I imagine they'll have plenty of customization for Tzeentch at least.

Going back to the website I saw some more details about the other races and they actually do show what seems like drastic differences in the classes even within a certain race. The orcs have a pretty good variety and 4 classes to choose from to boot. If that wasn't a perfect set-up for having the 4 chaos gods I don't know what would have been. We can still hope I guess though, right?
