What ruins a game for you? I'm not talking about if the game just plain sucks or not, but the little things that a game may have (or not have) can be really annoying and make you not want to play the game ever again.
For example, my gaming pet peeve is when shooter games lack any form of auto-aim during online play. They have it in the single player, but not in multiplayer. Two examples of this are Far Cry: Instincts, and Star Wars Battlefront 2. It pisses me off to no end when there is no auto aim, because that forces me to choose rocket weaponry all the time.
What in a game ruins it for you to the point that you don't play it anymore?
Auto-Aim is nice, but I don't need it.. I generally play with it off, anyway.
If I don't like the characters, I stop playing. If it's a bad translation, or if the gameplay is jst unbearable. Graphics don't really matter much, but voice acting can horribly ruin a game...
Parents. Mine allow me to only play live for one hour. Thats like 3 games.... They say I dont appreciate it. Umm if I didnt appreciate it then I wouldnt be using it.
Also I can not stand noobs. I get paired up with bitches that dont know what the hell CTF stands for.
First of all if you need AUTO AIM in a game then it requires no skill at all and makes it easy as hell, noobs use auto aim.... and as for oblivion yeah you can tellaport there but NO ONE FORCES YOU TO!!!!! you can walk!!!! and as for this kid here ^^^ if your mommy only lets you play for an hr, if you where my kid i wouldnt let you play at all just because you use it dont mean you appreciate it... why dont you people bitch about somthing thats actuly worth bitching about.... like you get to a sertian point in a game and in frezzez every time or somthing is really hard or some shit..... cheaters and bad storylines are good... good lord youth now a days....
Bad camera angles that cannot be ajusted will make me stop playing a game.
That, and when the game has some sort of stupid system where you can only save in certain, far off places, so if you have to go anywhere or stop playing quickly for some reason, you are forced to replay a chunk of the game if you aren't near a save point.
Oh, and also annoying are games where there are only a few different types of enemies, and they don't get any harder to beat. I loved Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, but it's a perfect example of what I mean.
Bug crashes. I can't play Oblivion on my PC without fearing when it'll crash again. Now I've stopped playing it until the next update is released, so I can play it without having to worry again.
when a game relies soley on its marketing campaign or the persons name on the box to sell the game. case in point 50 Cents Bulletproof what a peice of shit. also when a game is made and they know that only the fanboys will buy it. also when you see the previews and everything for a game and then when you get it or just play it its nothing like it was said to be
Without any form of auto aim, it becomes a matter of "sweep reticle over target and hope enough shots hit to do significant damage." Or it becomes just a bunch of rocket matches.
In Battlefront 2's single player, it is very strong, and that makes it easy. If they had an auto aim like Halo 2's in every shooter game, then that would be great. Each weapon is tailored to have a different amount of auto aim to make it challenging but not impossible.
-- Cameras that cannot be controlled -- Save systems that don't allow for people to take turns consistently because it takes so long to get to a save point -- Games that only have one "game" at a time so only one person in the house can play it at a time
It irritates me to high hell when im stuck on a difficult level and when i finally complete it, just as im saving the game freezes or there is a powercut. it happens ALL THE TIME to me >.<
This thread wasn't particularly focused on little things that happen such as online lag, cheaters, or technical problems like freezing sytems or games.
It's about things that would otherwise make the game perfdectly fine, if it weren't for that little issue. Camera angles is a very generic one, but it works as an example. Single save files is another one.
Non gameplay storyline elements that seemingly contradict what you experience or can/can't do while in gameplay. In other words, anything that kills the suspension of disbelief.
Cut scenes that take place immediately after a save point (especially when you don't have the option to skip it), forcing you to watch the same thing several times over, until you manage to reach the next save point.
Really poor voice acting can ruin a game. Especially when it's a serious game with an otherwise good plot. (There are exceptions to this, however, because the horrible voice acting is part of the reason I am so amused by House of the Dead 2)
what can ruin a game for me, is if i find my elf wanting the bad guys to win. This usually tells me that the game has storyline is not fully developed and makes the enemy look like the just ones. Exccept for Half-life 2, because I just like the game, story and Combine in general.
Games that when you try to play online, and you spent 20-30 minutes setting up a server match for a game, then when you get everyone in and one person cant connect and it crashes the server and makes you start all over
