In 2007 there will be a lot of new things coming to the sport....
...in the form of a 'foreign' manufacturer entering the Cup ranks, a new set of chassis configuration/regulations, new teams, new drivers, and supposed new Tweaks to the Chase for the Cup...and a lot of other new things to keep us yapping all season long.
1. Know and adhere to the Roosterteeth Forum Rules and the Sports Forum Rules. Blatant violations of those rules and those listed here will be reported to the moderators and they will deal with you accordingly.
2. This is a thread for NASCAR discussion, and it should be treated as such. Try to keep discussions on-topic. However, it should be noted that seemingly off-topic discussions (like of other racing series, the auto industry, etc.) are not always truly off-topic, since they can relate to what is going on in NASCAR. This is usually the case with many discussions during the off-season. If you think the discussion is off-topic, either hang around for the topic to shift or initiate a new discussion. Don't self-rightously blast others for supposedly going off-topic or not engaging in 'real' NASCAR discussion. You'll just make yourself look like an ass.
3. Respect each-other. Flaming and Trolling are against the site rules and will not be tolerated. Do not disparagingly criticize another board member for their shortcomings. Needless neg-modding is also frowned upon. Don't be a douche-bag and neg someone just because you disagree with them or don't like their driver, team, car make, or what-have-you unless it is obviously flamebait or blatantly stupid or offensive. Positive modding of good points, cool pix, and genuinely humorous stuff is encouraged. Share the love, baby.
4. NASCAR bashing will not be tolerated. Don't come in here and say "NASCAR sucks, you redneck hillbillies!" If you want to have a civil, objective discussion of things you don't like about NASCAR, that's allowable. But there's a difference between discussing problems with NASCAR and bashing NASCAR. You know it, and we know it.
Respect is to be shown to everyone, but especially so to the regulars. It is basic netiquette to show respect to those who have regularly contributed to discussions and kept the thread going. This list can grow as we gain new regular contributors throughout the season, so you may see folks posting here regularly who are not on this list. If you follow the rules and are a constructive member, we hope to see you added to the list next season!
6. Learn how to spell and use proper grammar. You will be hated if you make a post that doesn't include any punctuation or is riddled with idiotic misspelling. One or two errors is fine, but if you T4LK L1K3 T1H5, you have issues. You should download Firefox as it has a built in spellchecker. You should also try to avoid double posting as much as possible. There are exceptions, but posting useless comments on top of each other is unacceptable.
7. Learn how to properly post images and links. The Rooster Teeth Site Extender for Firefox will help you post links. When posting images, avoid those over 300KB. They don't appear any larger and tend to slow down the site. For hosting images, you can use imageshack.us, flickr, and photobucket.
8. If you reply to an older post (several pages behind the current discussion) please quote the comment you are replying to. Otherwise, everyone will read your post with a big, fat "WTF?" look on their face and immediately think less of you. You don't want to look like an idiot, do you?
10. Jeff Gordon is not gay. Seriously, STFU. Nobody thinks you're funny.
11. It pays to know and follow basic Netiquette. Educate yourself, and act accordingly. Don't be a n00b.
12. NO POLITICS!!! Unless a political development will directly affect NASCAR (like a city or town taking legal action against a race track, a race track filing an anti-trust lawsuit against NASCAR, etc.) duke it out in the P&CE Forum if you gotta rant. Keep the Conservative vs. Liberal, Bush supporter vs. Bush hater, USA vs. foreigners, etc. flame wars out of here.
13. And the most important rule of all:
Thread rules drafted and organized by dedalus5150 and co-edited by thread regulars
Just for the sake of it... I have to mention F1 on the first page. Just cuz the last one had F1 on the first page. AND. I call the creation of the 2008 thread. AND. I'm going to the RoC. I'm so happy!
I'm just so glad he's coming in! He's gonna add a WHOLE new perspective to the sport I think. I'm sure he'll be doing the Mexico City race as well... You think?
