The new Halo novel is to be released this fall, a date hasnt been set but it might come out the same time as Halo 3. This new book will be about the first contact that humans had with the covenant forces hence the name "Contact Harvest".
I thought it talked about that in the Fall of reach. MAybe i am wrong though. I hope they don't use really complicated military terms like in the other books.
The FoR was 25 years after Harvest. Harvest was the very first planet that got glassed. Also the first place the Humans came in contact with the Covenant. They talked about it briefly in one of the Chapters.
Also apparently one of the main characters is Sgt. Johnson.
Hello i am sorry but this is the halo section and i was thinking of putting it in the book forum but i am more of a halo fan and cos halo has its own forum i thought it would be best here.
And no, Johnson is not apparantly the main character, he is the main character, confirmed by Bungie's Halo Script writer Joseph Staten, who just happens to be the auther of this book.
didnt they aleady talk about when they first met them?? ya know glassing the planet, launching nukes at then, captain keyes and a small group of marines kicking ass any of this ringing a bell

and yeah harvest was the first colony to come in to contact with the covenant and it was blown away in a hail of pretty hot plasma. i think only two ships or whatever escaped but i forget. we shall see!!!!!!
I personally doubt it. Although a good book overall, 'The Flood' was the most poorly recieved of the Halo novels. Besides, apart from 'Contact Harvest', there's only one more confirmed novel yet to be released.
Q: Without giving away any juicy details, what can you tell us about the book’s plot or other characters?
A: Well…maybe the safest way to answer is to tell what won’t be in the book. [Ed. Note: JERK!] As folks familiar with the fiction know, first contact occurred in 2525 – almost 30 years before the events of Halo. At that point the Master Chief and the rest of the Spartans were in their early teens, getting prepped for a fight against other humans (the “Insurrection” in Epsilon Eridanus). So there won’t be any Spartans in the book, but…Oh, all right. I can’t resist: in addition to Avery, there will be some major Covenant characters from Halo2. Can you guess which ones?
Perhaps it will be half-jaws story. That would be interesting to read.
I don't think so, the propeht just sit around and make decisions. Unless it was a story about a prophet rising to be prophet it would be kind of boring. Plus Half-jaw just has so much background and story that could be told.
no what i mean is it could be about how the prohpets came to the idea that the humans are evil or something along those lines. With half-jaw he wont be half-jaw because he lost half his jaw at the first halo or was it the second, i cant remember.
He lost it in the first. But yeah that would make sense, have them explaining why the humans are evil. Even so Half-jaw (or full-jaw) still has a lot of background from before halo. And except for the Arbiter, Half-jaw is really the only major covenant character.
