OK, the beta has already begun for the Bungie Friends and Family, and will begin on WEDNESDAY, MAY 16 for those who got in through the other methods (Rule of 3, Crackdown, etc.).
This thread serves a limited purpose. Anything not on the list below goes HERE. Topics for this thread: 1. Posting that you are in the beta. 2. Trying to find a party to play with in the beta. 3. Discussion of any element of play from the beta ONLY (meaning only beta maps, beta gametypes, beta weapons, and obviously, only multiplayer) 4. Asking any questions about the beta (How is the weapon balance, how are the graphics, how do I change my armor color, etc.) 5. Any improvements you can think of on elements from the beta (including matchmaking and Bungie.net stat tracking) What I DO NOT WANT TO SEE: 1. Whining about not having the beta. 2. Begging for keys or offering keys for sale/giveaway. 3. Any single player campaign talk. 4. Anything not on the list above. 5. Any spamming.
I came in at the last second basically. Just bought a 360 Elite last week and a copy of Crackdown. I have several friends that are in on it too. Hope to see some of you one there... and get my arse handed to me most likely.
I noticed a flaw on Snowbound. I went to the Halo 3 Beta Forum at Bungie to say something but I couldn't find a thread where I could report problems. And I didn't want to make a new thread since I've never done anything on that site before. I was looking for a Report Glitches/Problems thread. Does anyone know where one is?
The beta = fun. I almost called in sick today just stay home and play more. :P
Personally, I'm glad that the Needler is more powerful than ever. Also, I LOVE the picking up of turrets. You tend to get killed pretty quickly, but it's still really cool.
Agreed completely. Needler doesn't seem vastly improved, but still.
I want to know this though: Is this beta what we will be getting when the Public Beta is released? Or will they update it to possibly include more weapons and vehicles? Theres also been a bit of speculation about perhaps a 4th map, but i really doubt that.
I also want to know if they feel like they play better here. I mean, I'm decent at Halo 2, but I'm getting 22, 23 kills in one game, stuff I've never done before. Anyone getting that?
i definitely know I'm playing worse (just look at my Halo 3 stats vs. my Halo 2 stats on bungie), but I also haven't played an FPS since Prey (last summer)...or a Halo game since 2004. I think I'm just rusty.
I think what you might be feeling is just the transitionary period, I can't tell you how many times I dropped the vital bubble shield instead of reloading, or having to turn my sensitivity down 2 notches compared to Halo 2.
I've become acclimated if you will now, and now I'm getting the +10 kill/death spread I normally get (not to gloat), but hell, when I first played I was going NEGATIVE by that much, it was crazy, but after time I found it to become easier, just give it some time, it took be about 5-6 games to get into the swing of things I think. But still I find myself dying by some bullshit things, lol. It's just the little qwerks of the game I think, simliar to the trouble some people have understanding how they die in Gears.
Overall though I love the beta, definately cool, the people I play with could be better, but hell, everyone is just starting out and will be until the end of the week at least! That's when my friends will be getting the beta, then we'll be able to team up, and that'll be great.

Actually, some people have been playing for nearly half a year. I've met people who have done such. Still, you raise some good points.
I'm a lot worse than when I played Halo 2 religiously. I'd say I'm better at Halo 3 than Halo 2, it's just hard to get a good idea (Since when I play Halo 2, it's split screen against my friends, and Halo 3 is on XBox Live, among other things). I'm almost sure I'm just rusty.
Could you imagine going back after the 3 weeks? I'd be switching grenade types all the time instead of reloading, lol.
I couldn't see myself going back, except for the fact that I have a few very good friends that don't yet have a 360, my roomie included, so I gotta go back, especially since I love the cheating so much! haha. BIG jk!
I got F&F invite, started playing yesterday. I really can't see myself going back. I'm already used to the whole left & right bumper schtick. Y'know what? The beta is really fun. And pretty.
