The sequel to the Rambo movies (Or First Blood movies since the first movie is First Blood) this movie was something I had heard about but had no interest in seeing.
while the action does look awesome, that trialer looked incedibile poor. it's like he's shooting it himself with his two neighborhood friends. it didn't look polished at all.
when i heard they changed the name to John Rambo i thought it was a complete joke, especially since beforehand i seen a parody video where a guy rants about sequel naming and says offhandedly 'Rocky Balboa? What are they going to call the new Rambo movie, JOHN RAMBO?!'
I'll definately see it too but whats with Stallone re living his former glories? I mean the list could go as for sequels of his past hits lol /sarcasm I hope they make Judge John Spartan a combo of two movies lol
Actually, it was all up to Stallone, considering that he writes and directs most of his movies. Rocky Balboa was one of the greatest films I've ever seen. Is it so wrong that was a sequel? It's was the 6th movie in the series and it now one of my favorite movies. I have nothing against remakes and sequels. After all, all of the early movies in Cinema were adapted plays and books. Some of the greatest movies of all time are adaptations, remakes, and sequels. An example of each: Gone with the Wind, Scarface, Rocky 2. Who the fuck cares really? A good movie, is a good movie.
Hey folks, Harry here... So there I was... having a long lazy morning... Watching INVISIBLE BOY on TCM in bed and pondering just staying there when my phone rings with Sylvester Stallone on the line. No matter how many times he calls, I'll never, ever get used to having a conversation with Stallone.
I honestly had no idea why he was calling, as I hadn't read the site today. He starts off with something along the lines of, "Boy, them talkbackers are ripping me apart for the title change." Ah... I had read an email from AB KING before going to sleep that Lionsgate was saying the title was gonna be something along the lines of RAMBO: TO HELL AND BACK. Personally, I hated the change. Sly stated, "You know Lionsgate jumped the gun on this. I just was thinking that the title JOHN RAMBO was derivative of ROCKY BALBOA and might give people the idea that this is the last Rambo film, and I don't necessarily feel that it will be. He's not an athlete, there's no reason he can't continue onto another adventure. Like John Wayne with THE SEARCHERS."
I like that. Next Sly stated that he was thinking something like BLOOD RIVER - and asked what I thought about that. It was at this point where I felt, I should just let Sly know how I felt about all this title change stuff. I told him that I didn't feel the title JOHN RAMBO meant that this was the last Rambo movie, but that like with ROCKY BALBOA - it was more about a personal journey for the character. That JOHN RAMBO meant less cartoonish and a commitment to making the franchise a real quality return to the character. That the title, without a hyphen or a colon meant - this was a story about JOHN RAMBO.
That seemed to resonate with Sly and he stated, "Alright, that's the title. JOHN RAMBO."
So folks - There you have it. Sly listened to you and to me. The title looks to be JOHN RAMBO and it looks like, this might not be his final adventure. Seems Sly has a taste for the character again. In my opinion, that's a very good thing.[/qutoe]
Im pumped for it! i love the Rambo movies, i mean he ripes out a guys adams apple, come on.. thats how you know its good. that will be a there for the opening show for me
"It's called RAMBO: TO HELL AND BACK; the violence is an analogy to Rambo finding Christ." ".... and it's called TO HELL AND BACK?" "Yeah." ".... and it's set in Asia." "Yeah, so?"
They are officialy gonna now call it Rambo IV...just to try an get this thread back upp seeing as the movie is coming out in a couple of months because that is what I do.
Yea, I think Stalone is trying to go out as brutal and bloody as he can. The past Rambo movies raised the bar when it came to pure brutal action, Im thinking Sylvester just once to raise it one more time

Raise it to what? Beyond Dawn of the Dead heights? The violence in this film is so extreme its comical, it won't "set the bar".
Yea First Blood wasnt focusing on the action, it was focusing on Rambo But Im just saying that they were brutal for their time. I know there were others that surpassed them, but thats beside the point
