Well, it's coming. This Tuesday, 4/15, the new maps, which are :
Avalanche Blackout Ghost Town
will be available for download on XBL. Along with this, Bungie is running a special offer to those who buy it immediately. If you do, you'll get 4 months of free Bungie PRO.
So do you guys have any thoughts, expectations, ideas for games, or all-around love for the new map pack?
Blackout if it is the same for Lockout is good for slayer and team slayer and br fights and shotgun fights. I say avalanche will be good for objectives and Big team slayer. Ghost town proubly mainly team slayer but we will just have to wait tell the new maps come out.
I'm surprised no one here has mentioned the new forge objects. I mean, disregarding the wooden and Forerunner structures (all of which look amazing) we'll be able to add camera effects to the gameplay and then see it as well in theater. (This is where I would usually put a link to the Bungie page showing both of these additions, but I'm at work and Bungie's blocked)
Still, I'm sure RVB will be able to use the camera effects to add some interesting and hilarious storylines
theres only one video that shows a few of the new forge objects, it on the xbox live marketplace an they only discuss the new features an object breifly the focus is on the maps layouts
You see, Shoot-Here... He's just doing the whole rebar stuff to kinda laugh in my face... or at least try... but, I dont really give a crap. This is a forum... and I could really give a crap about what he says...
So, back to the Legendary Map pack... Along with BlueZealot... I am really excited with the lighting filters. It's gonna add something new to the mix... But, the filter I am most excited about is the one with the whole Gears of War look to it. I dont have Gears myself, but I've played it at my friends house a few times...
I'm really looking forward for Avalanche, because other than being a remake of one of the all time classics, it would double the number of big maps (Sandtraps anyone?). Also it's nice to finally find a map with a default Hornet, and the snow camo on the human vehicles is a nice touch. Also the filters thing sounds pretty cool, does anyone know if it is just for Ghost Town or for all three?
Yeah, after seeing how Grif was treated when Sarge kept throwing objects at him with the man-cannnons... I decided to create a level filled with them. But, after a few test runs... I decided to junk it...
But on Avalanche, you should put a bunch of floating o'man-cannons going up in front of those massive ones on the map to see just how high you could fly!
My problem with the new items is that they aren't available in the stock maps. I want to put up simple walls in some places instead of having to use tons of pieces to block paths... I don't see why they can't patch the game or something.
Same goes for the camera effects. You can only use them on the 3 new maps (lame) and most of them make it next to impossible to play. Pen & Ink might as well be called "white and brighter than white". -- Blackout is Lockout but worse. A number of the oft-used jumps are messed up , some are easier and some are harder (the one to get on top of the base with the open roof is very difficult now).
Avalanche is going to be a huge pain in the ass for whoever makes a canvas map out of it... there are 96/100 spawns used in that one. The Hornet is totally lame now because it has no rockets anymore. They could have make them fire slower or at least in a similar fashion to the banshee... but no, they turned it into a flying and underpowered warthog that moves too slow to be much good in a fight.
Ghost Town seems pretty cool but I only ran through it for a few minutes to see how it looked. It's quite a beautiful map.
Some people are never pleased. Be grateful that they're even still making maps. They could be using the resources and manpower on their next game, and you'd be stuck playing the same old launch maps.
They explained a lot of the buffs and debuffs in the last pod cast. I'd suggest listening to it. Instead of the Hornet being the all feared god machine that it is in campaign it is now, while still being something I would not suggest trying to take head on, something that in the hands of the right person can be used like the weird offspring of a tank and a hog. I do agree that they could have left the missiles on. I would have turned a blind eye to the loss of the missile lock and maybe even a loss of power in the missiles, but this works just as well.
Blackout: I haven't had a chance to play any of these yet, wont till later this afternoon, but from what I'm seeing on the Bungie forums people have already forged a pretty darn close remake of the original Lockout. I you want your jumps back I'd suggest waiting for it to show up in the community files thread or, I do not suggest this method...it could be harmful to your health, you could dive head first into the cluster-f*** that is the main halo 3 forum and try to find it in there. I think there are a couple of threads in there where people are posting new jump locations as well, but I haven't been looking at them too much. I'd prefer to find them for myself.
arg! The maps are available for download but there arn't any playlists that include the maps on live play. And a friendless loser like me can't get enough people together to play it.
Has anyone else experienced issues with downloading these maps? I downloaded them, it said my download was complete, but for some reason, they won't load. It says I purchased them, but I can't seem to load them in-game. Any thoughts?
