Yes, this isn't a joke. Apparently a talented independent filmmaker named Eddie Lebron set out this year to create a feature length movie based on Megaman and today they just released the first trailer. Looks like someone is about to give Hollywood a run for its money! Why can't other Hollywood made video game movies look this damn good?
They are keeping with the actual original story from the games, but instead of making it about Rock vs. Wily, it seems more about Light vs. Wily which I think is an excellent idea.... The level of quality and production seen in the trailer is amazing for someone with no budget. The CGI alone on Cutman is really damn good... And yes, the movie does indeed have Protoman in it! Apparently he plans on releasing it to the internet in a couple months for free and I can't wait...
hmmm.. i honestly dont know what to feel about this, it sounds like a flop but if they play it smart and focus on the right fanbase it may be a cult hit...
You have to keep in mind it was all made with no budget and completely fan made... But the level of production and quality on it is amazing! And its not like it will cost you anything to watch it once its out seeing how its being released to the internet for free....
give me an hour when im out of my anthro class with my crazy prof then i will watch it, but i was just saying how i think if they want megaman movie to be a success.
Well from the look of the trailer, it looks as though they did pretty much nail it head on... Although I am still undecided about the girl playing Roll.
hmmm i expected wily to be more hairier... but it does look very well done, their heart was in it thats for sure and it can tell by the trailer alone. sure it looks amateurish, but they tried their best and i think that will deliver for them
I will watch this. I agree on the issue with Roll, but it still looks fun. Video game movies fail when the director tries too hard to adapt them to reality. It's a fucking video game, let it be fun!
^ Jake Gyllenhaal is playing Dastan. And jeez, I hate it admit it, but he buffed up extremely to play the part and it looks like he could really pull him off physically.
I've seen an interview with Jake, with scenes from the filming within the thing. The scenes shown reminded me ALOT of a few of the cutscenes of the first game. And I actually have high hopes for this... I heard it's from the same guy that did Pirates of the Caribbean. The fact that theres no mention of it being based on a videogame to the mainstream public was a relief. Maybe, just maybe, that's the best move the marketing has done. Those who know it's based off a game live happy with the knoledge, and those who don't, live happy while wrapped inside Jake's pretty eyes... I'd say I'm in both categories.
Oh, and as for the trailer itself... Kroze, you know my opinion on it, and what it reminds me of (which, quite honestly, needs a thread here, since I'd say it's on-par with the quality of this one) But I say, this was truly more than I expected. The CGI was good, the acting was more than what I'd expect from a fan-film ('cept for Roll. She was just plain creepy) and I can proudly say that I've got high hopes for this. As far as a fan film goes.
