It's apparently a hybrid of remake and reboot. whatever that means. It's also apparently been rumoured for a while, but is now officially on the slate.
This is also the eighteenth million upcoming project Robert Rodriguez has been attached to in the last two years. The man is going to be busy in the next few years. (and come on dude, we're still waiting for Sin City 2.)
Watch this space for any and all news on the subject. Because I'm going to be watching this like a hawk. Love the director, really like the idea... this could be great. Any updates will be posted here when they become available.
Oh the hardcore fanboys won't be happy unless Arnold is back with the original director making a shot for shot remake but it has a hard as nails female predator in it with big tits.
Just wait till we start seeing some images, maybe they'll come around then.
I'm for anything but a remake. Give me new characters. And a new setting. And I'm not too optimistic about more than one predator unless there is a bad blood predator in the mix.
You're hard core, but there's always someone else who's even more so.
with so little info to go off of, since I'm guessing that script won't be in the mi to much, I'm still optimistic. I've loved all of Rodriguez's suff... that wasn't 3D kiddie fair.
“I’m going to be able to shoot my upcoming Machete here, a sci-fi action film called Nervewrackers, a re-boot of the Predator series called Predators, and a couple of smaller movies called Sin City 2 and The Jetsons.”
You should have been my age when Spy Kids first came out. I thought it was the shizbit. Those were good times.
The internet has changed me in unimaginable ways.
Anyway, the way that I can see most satisfying the hardest of the hardcore fans is futile as it turns off your average Joe. If they try and keep do something new and fresh with the universe, I can see it working well, well at least somewhat pleasing most of the hardcore and still making a tidy profit.
Maybe. Rodriguez is one of those filmmakers who is usually allowed to do whatever he wants and if that includes marines, why not?
Personally, I'm happy as a pig in shit. It's about time a good filmmaker got his hands on this franchise, especially after the AvP movies, which I hated.
One problem I could see is Fox's stinginess when it comes to budget. If he gets what he wants, will he have to sacrifice perhaps an R-Rating to get what he wants? Or part of the budget?
And at least we've got one thing going for us, Shane Salerno isn't anywhere near this from what we've seen.
In Rob's hands, I have no doubt that it will own all the other Predator films before it. But hope that this is an orgin story, I would love to know how it's like on their homeworld.
But you're right. Sin City 2, Machette, Red Sonja remake, Robert's got to much on his plate as is. Meanwhile, Tarantino is already dropping a new film this year after his part of Grindhouse floped. When, oh when are we gonna see another Rodriguez flick on the silver screen?
Yeah, the man sure keeps busy. Generally when I hear the words "remake, reboot, or reimagining" I cringe a little and lament the death of creativity in Hollywood. In this case though, when I read the headline earlier today I got excited. With Rodriguez signed on, it has the possibility to be really stellar.

Yea, but if he's doing production then it won't be a problem. Rodriguez is known for stretching a millions.
True,so true. Whatever happened to the time where Fox made good movies...it seems so long ago, but I can vaguely remember a good from them, Me thinks?!
Yea, cause a movie with Dwayne Johnson (Doom), Stone Cold Steve Austin (The Condemed), and John Cena (The Marine) is just gonna "fucking rock!" Only way I'll see a film like that is if:
1) If I know, without a shadow of doubt, that the before mention will be slaughtered in the first 5 secs of the film. 2) Hell freezes over.
