Memory search for laptop, reversed. [ 1 ]

Hello ladies and gentlemen.

I've got two questions, well, one if the first is a no:

#1: Is there any laptop that is compatible with a 1GB 144-pin SODIMM ECC RAM? And if so...

#2: What laptops currently support this type of RAM, regardless of manufacturer.

I've googled my ass off only to be bogged down by the millions of scam/advertising/warehousing sites that offer a combination of every type of RAM under the sun, but I can't find any laptops that support this type of RAM. Now seeing as I am in possession of a stick of this type of RAM, I can only assume that said laptop exists.

Any and all help is very much appreciated, but none is really expected, since this is a very cumbersome task.

Not any new ones, you got 144-pin SODIMM's, 200-pin DDR SODIMM, 200-pin DDR2(not compatible with ddr1!!!), 204-pin DDR3.

no new laptops are made with anything less than DDR2.

How did you get your hands on such an sodimm? It'd be quite ridiculous to buy a laptop just for a specific sodimm, better to just sell the ram to someone with an old notebook.

New RAM is really cheap, even for laptops. You're much better off just getting a new laptop.

I understand that this seems ridiculous to be so concerned about this, but there is a method to my madness.

I'm not looking for a SODIMM to install into a laptop, rather a laptop that fits this particular RAM. It must be very precise. I know full well that new laptops, even ones made back near the turn of the millennium never used ECC compatible chipsets, and that it is a very sparsely used technology, but I can't seem to find a single laptop that can fit it. Hence my thread here.

But thanks for responding so quickly! I expected a day or two to go by without any hits.

According to this thread, it lists two models that use ECC RAM. Not sure if they'd work with your RAM.

Sorry, but it MUST be a 144-pin type RAM, not a 200 or 168.

I'd be surprised if any laptop was made to take that.

I do know a sun netra cp2300 will take up to 2 pc133 ecc 144 pin sodimms... There's probably a few other sun blade servers that take them.
What are the exact part numbers off the chip and where exactly did you get this?

This is the exact item bought.

I don't know if this is a part number or what, but the exact words on it are:

323771500008
AN28V72X8SSGAS
1024MB PC133 ECC
(I can only guess this is the manufacturer) ATP

So, you're wanting to buy a laptop to match up to the $30 stick of RAM you bought?

In reply to lemniwinks, #8:

That's sun memory. See the 'SUN P/N' on the other sticker, 370-6768?

SUN MICRO 370-6768 Netra ct 820 1GB memory
SUN MICRO 370-6768 SPARE 1GB SODIMM PC133 MEMORY

You just aren't going to find consumer laptops that take that and based on the other listings for that stuff, it looks like there is a lot of that pulled sun memory out there.

No, the situation is kind of difficult to explain. If you'd absolutely like to know, send a PM or summat.

But thank you guys for helping me with this issue! I've saved myself a bit on this issue, so my thanks goes out to all you.

Cheers
