Strictly Business won last season's pro league, and they sent in so many good clips that I thought it was necessary to devote a full reel to them and show WHY they did so well.
Another reel should be out shortly to close out last season's videos.
This season's highlights are on their way as well, or at least they will be once the submissions come flowing in. I remind you again that to submit, send an email to grifballhighlight@gmail.com with a link to the clipped bit of game film, a note on what teams were playing and what colour they are, and a short description of what's happening in the clip.
Was it really called for to place almost every cheap ass score against us in that highlight reel... lame. Maybe one or two but damn. Tell ya what we have a highlight reel too. Its in my file share called PIOTP v SYLaL... view it with pop corn.
Look I'm not saying they weren't good clips... but damn did we need to relive every point scored on us that season by SB. From watching the highlight reel it appears the only thing you need to do to win a championship is beat PIOTP twice and you're good to go... A highlight reel should showcase events from an entire season, not a championship team beating up on a team that went 1 and 9 for the season.
And yes we had host (someone has to host, it's fucking grifball), deciding to play someone that is on your team is no excuse, and we won 6-3... that's a win with one to grow on... as for the popcorn, any salty snack will do.
This has nothing to do with our the PO match... And I NEVER once said that we are the best nor did I pull any card... If I wanted to pull a card I could talk about who had host that game and who I decide to play in the match... PO won we lost. SB won we lost, twice. POITP won SYLaL lost. Every game was fair and played well by every team... I just didn't want to see us abused so much on a highlight reel... share the wealth, they played other teams. That is all.
It's not as if I went through every game they played last season, they sent in their clips the usual way and happened to have a whole bunch of sweet clips, 5 of which came from their two games against you. The reel focuses on how great some of their plays were, not how you guys lost to them. I only mention that "your pain isn't over" once, and every clip is commentated to focus on the SB players, not the defenders.
The commentary was almost an afterthought actually, originally I was just going to leave it as sweet clips, but then I realized I had some explaining to do for a couple of clips, so I put a commentary track in at the last minute. The presence of entirely "good" clips (as opposed to laughably bad ones like the Wildcats being walked all over in an older reel) also cut down on the opportunity for comedy, and I decided instead to focus on showcasing the fantastic play of the SL09 champions instead of trying to force some laughs out of the clips.
I have placed myself in those shoes. In SL08 I did two semi-official highlight reels, and in one I got stopped horribly by Superstar, causing a goal against us and I believe costing us the game. I intentionally edited it to ensure that the embarrassment was as complete as it could possibly have been because I'm able to laugh at my failures and put the entertainment value above the personal problems with the clip.
Ok... now take that one clip and find 5 others that are equally as embarrassing and then place 'em side by side in a highlight reel... enjoy. You are not me and I am not you. I am glad you can take your failures in stride... me not so much.
