Also the video was made for humor and to be honest there was a shit load of hippies at my old school so they made us make something over "global warming"
What was the point? I understood from the description what it was supposed to accomplish but without that I would have had a hard time understanding even with the end message.
I'm trying to give constructive criticism sir. I shouldn't have to read the description of the video to understand what it's about. It's an art medium, I should be able to watch it and pull the message without needing someone to explain it to me.
Yes, I'm stupid. When I watched Clockwork Orange I expected it to be about the inner workings of a clock that was orange. When I watched Donnie Darko I expected it to be about a guy named Donnie stuck in the dark, when I watched V for Vendetta I expected it to be a Vendetta list with V at the top, when I watched the Matrix I expected it to be about numbers, when I watched the Godfather I expected it to be about the guy assigned to someone's child in case they died.
No I realized the concept when I read the description before I watched the video, had I not I would not have understood the concept of the video, the message that your description states:
This is a video that me, and my friends in my International Relations class did for our project on "go to 2040" A program that is designed in cleaning up the environment and making sure that all of us make it to the year 2040, clean, safe, and happy.
This seems to be the message that you claim you are supposed to get across. All I get is that at the end you say Carpool! You don't put any environmental message in your short film, you correlate a person being physically damaged to not carpooling leaving me with the message that if I don't carpool someone will "beat me up." That seems pretty far from the "Go to 2040" message that you were supposed to share.
If you can't take constructive criticism stop posting in this forum and leave your films to your journal, this forum is for your films to be critiqued and you apparently can't understand that as you seem to almost always resort to personal attacks.
While I find your videos entertaining I do have to agree with Leo on this much.

who knows if it is metaphorical? maybe the guy is the planet and the guy in the black shirt is pollution and all the things that are causing the planet to warm up. anyway, i find comedy to be a more effective way of sending a message. so what if this video wasnt about climate change or helping the enviroment directly, it could be just a video to change people's actions that is still going to help.
i dont like it when people feud over the internet, its kind of sad really. so a message for both parties:
when giving constructive criticism its best not to start off with sarcasm. you're trying to help him make better vids in the future so be nice. im sure if the paragraph bi_pagan quoted was the first one you posted this thread would have started on a better direction.
dont call people asses, stupid, cunt rags or anything derogatory unless it really is warranted ie. extreme racists. it sets the scene of a post off waiting to happen.
lets just chill and drink beer. lets all be friends. fucktards
I don't know about anyone else...I don't really care as much about carpooling as many others. But I sure love funny videos. From a strictly comedic standpoint, well done sire. Some timing could have been done better, but there are some hilarious visual and situational jokes in that movie.
It's pretty obvious to me that you didn't even need to put an environmental image in this movie. Carpooling is one of the most common solutions that addresses gasoline consumption, so there is no more need to demonstrate how "green" carpooling is than there is to demonstrate how brushing can improve dental health. All you needed to do was promote carpooling in a humorous, memorable way.
Not only that, but any notion that you "meant" what you depicted as physical attacks on non-carpoolers is waaay out of line. Ironic and exaggerated statements in comedy are the norm. The "social super-togetherness" of carpoolers was just as facetious as the righteous angel of arbitration that gave carpoolers money and punished solo drivers.
Holy shit you guys. Its a joke. This isnt suppose to be persuading you to carpool. It was an easy way for him to get 100 bucks. Stop taking everything so fucking literally.
Mr_P this is a forum for critiquing you work so you can improve, if you simply wanted to share it that would have been best for your journal. If you think a critique is trying to stir shit up sir you really should stay out of this forum.
I mean Leo I understand you just want to stir up shit, but do the world and this forum a favor and shut up
ya but you dont need to be a fuckin dick
You sa are a big dumb wet flabby douchebag
This is not helping to make the thread better. Nor is it aiding Mr_Patriotic in improving his video skills. We could all use constructive criticism. Yes,Leo should have made his first post more constructive and less abrasive, however you guys went from trying to change the atmosphere to immediately sparking another flame war.
