I guess this is our little space to introduce ourselves to each other. No reason to go into full details, unless you would like to, just basic info is a good way to start.

How long have you been cosplaying?
What got you into the hobby?
Which conventions do you attend?
Are you self taught or do you have schooling?
What do you love the best about cosplay?

I guess I'll go first

I have been cosplaying officially at conventions since 2002, most of the cons I go to are in Florida but I have attended ComicCon and AX out if California. My best friend invited me to go to a convention, it was our first, and I knew I had to make a costume so I made my first one and never stopped LOL Most of the stuff I know is self taught, a lot of my friends are really great and have taught me a lot of new things. The best thing about cosplay by far is all the amazing people I have met and all the great friends I have made through the hobby. An entire table at my wedding was full of my cosplay friends, doesn't get any better than that.

Sup ladies!

I first got into the Cosplay biz when my (enormous) posse and I decided to attend and enter the San Diego Comic Con masquerade as a Matrix themed group, killed two virginities with one bone. Since then it stuck! I've always loved dressing up and its tons of fun. I only attend San Diego Comic Con as of now since its local and huge and affordable. I'm pretty self taught but have a mom nearby whos fluent with a sewing machine and loves to help when she can. I act like a total B.A.M.F. and this shows in my cosplay. I love strong women and love that people create strong female characters such as Lara, Ripley, Diana and Trinity. Very rarely will you see me dress as a damsel in distress :p . Maybe it’s all in my head but these are women every girl should aspire to be like in some way: Strong willed, self-sacrificing and determined.

Long story short: I want to be a super hero, even if it means just dressing up as one.

OH HAI GUYZ

I've been cosplaying for as long as I can remember. But then again, Trick-or-Treat is another story....
I really got into it because of this though. Sure did scare a lot of kids hopping out of my house dressed as Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. TRICK OR TREAT, RAWR!

I started going to Cons about 4 years ago, and have been trying to go to as many in my area as possible since then. I don't always cosplay, as it's nice to just walk around and enjoy myself sometimes instead of being hassled for photos. =D

I really only go to local cons, Wisconsin and then into Chicago. But I'd love to get to some of the larger ones in Florida and California one of these days. I just don't like going alone!!! I have a feeling I'll be going to ACEN this year alone, which is fine because I've met people and will have friends once I get there. But if I ever end up flying to Florida or Cali, I'll be counting on all of you to hang out with me.

I've been offically cosplaying since Summer 2003 when I went with Veela and Skyerotc to Star Wars Weekends (hence my "Jedi Jesus" picture and a few others) but I was cosplaying(if you'd count it) as early as 1997 when my church and a several others ran a medieval fellowship group known orignally lastly as Royal Order of Chivalry. I didn't know what cosplaying was then but it was a blast and I took any chance to in essence cosplay since then. A few years back an ex got me into helping her and a few others write a comic that got me really back into the fandom again as I had to create characters that may get cosplayed. I count Star Wars Weekends as a convention of sorts so I go to that and Megacon (since 2007). I don't really call myself self taught because I've had Veela, Skyerotc, TheEvenStar, and my Mom to help out with 90+% of what I've worn or used. I plan to absorb as much information as I can from them so I can hopefully cosplay without stealing time from them. As far as why I love cosplaying? I think that's pretty much the same reason as everyone else here.

I was in Lac's ENORMOUS Matrix group! It too got me to start loving cosplay. I attended two ComicCons before I left San Diego and am hoping to attend Anime Central here in Illinois this summer. I jot my first sewing machine as a Christmas present, but I've been sewing for a few years already. I made a Team Aqua costume and (with mom's help!) Yuna from FF X-2 for Comic Con. I'm a huge fan of anime and comics, and cosplaying is to me the most fun way to show it! :)

Q. How long have you been cosplaying?
A. I have been cosplaying for about 3 years now.
Q. What got you into the hobby?
A. A few of my friends got me into it. They grabbed me, covered me in blood, tore my cloths, and called me a T-virus Victim.
Q. Which conventions do you attend?
A. I usually attend Comic Con, Yaoi Con, or Fanime. Nothing to big but I haven't gone in a while due to schooling.
Q. Are you self taught or do you have schooling?
A. I'm self Taught, mainly because I had no idea there was a way to get schooled in the way of Cosplay.
Q. What do you love the best about cosplay?
A. The people at the Cons and fellow cosplayers. They really bring a smile to my face when they want to take pictures with me or of me, it lets me know i've done a good job when they compliment me on my outfit.

been cosplaying since about 2003 ish, mostly for Star Wars Weekends. Though I attended my first convention (Mega Con, in Orlando FL) in 2004. Lots of fun.

My mom (TheEvenStar) has pretty much done all the teaching to me. She's amazing with a sewing machine. First really got to know what the official term of 'cosplay' from my friend kristin back an High School. She loved any and all anime.

I just fell in love with all the pictures people would post of themselves in character.

I consider myself to have been cosplaying for a year now, but have been making costumes for three. I started cosplaying because I love being creative and how better to show you are a fan of something than by dressing up from it? I was also inspired to start cosplaying from some of the amazing cosplayers I saw photos of on the internet. I haven't been to anything but San Diego's Comic Con, but really hope to start visiting more cons in the future. I started out making costumes as self tought, but now I have schooling and will be continuing with that schooling for a little while longer. The thing I love best about cosplay is getting to be someone or something else while in costume. Other than costume making being a great creative outlet, it is fun to pretend, kind of like playing make believe when little, but better! ^_^

How long have you been cosplaying?
I started cosplaying in 2002 at this crappy "anime convention" called ACC Expo. It was a silly toy convention, but it was my first convention.
What got you into the hobby?
My friends were cosplayers, and I wanted to join into the fun.
Which conventions do you attend?
I've attended every Florida convention, and attended SDCC 2008.
Are you self taught or do you have schooling?
I taught myself, oh the horrors.
What do you love the best about cosplay?
As corny as it sounds, meeting new people and making lasting friendships with some amazing people.

Hello! I just joined the group, I'm a novice cosplayer in every way shape and form. I've been attempting to cosplay and fail miserably for 2-3 years now, but last year was my debut at a convention as Cassandra Cain (Batgirl III) of Batman. I've always been a fan of cosplaying even before I knew what it really was. I tried my hand at being Aeris when I was 14 or so..roughly 9 years ago and made a Shuriken for my younger sister who loved Yuffie. Up in Canada we don't have the crazy awesome conventions that is SD or anything, but we have Fan Expo and Anime North, which I go to every year. I'm "self-taught" although I practically know NOTHING about sewing. I intend to learn one day so I can achieve the bunch of cosplays I would love to do! The thing I love best about cosplaying is being able to portray your favourite characters to the best of your ability. I only try for characters I think I can actually do well. I also love being with other cosplayers and meeting new ones! Cons are tons of fun!

How long have you been cosplaying? 4 years. Not including halloween's obviously.

What got you into the hobby? I've always loved dressing up... so I guess: having the money to do it right got me into it.

Which conventions do you attend? Animethon, Otafest, and the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo. I want to attend more. I'll be going to Anime Matsuri this April.... But not for cosplay... For Miyavi <3

Are you self taught or do you have schooling? Oh so very self taught. I can't even sew... But I always have help from my awesome friends <3

What do you love the best about cosplay? Being unrecognizable, being someone else for a day, and meeting new people <33 Because, if you are obsessed enough to take the time and money to make a good costume... I know we will get along.

I'm gonna do it interview style, since if I write it out, its gonna probably look like a giant rant. lol

Q. How long have you been cosplaying?
Well, my first cosplay was a kimono which I bought at Otakon in 2007, but for 30$, it was a good bargain. I wore it and it was I guess a somewhat success, like 2 or 3 pics taken, but for me, I wanted to see what the big deal was.

Q. What got you into the hobby?
I dared myself, I was quiet a few years back, and I finally said the hell with it, if wearing a costume is gonna help raise my confidence, I'm doing it!
Q. Which conventions do you attend?
I live in South Florida, so Florida Supercon, Anime Supercon, Megacon, Anime Festival of Orlando, Jacon, Chibi Pa and outside of Florida, Otakon in Baltimore, Maryland. That con I love the most, my first con and I consider it my summer vacation alone. With friends of course lol.

Q. Are you self taught or do you have schooling?
I'm somewhat self taught, but I ask for help from my friends.

Q. What do you love the best about cosplay?
I love the warm reception from people who like my cosplays, I love meeting new friends with some of the same goals and interests as me, and having pictures of people I cosplayed as and having a photo of me doing that as a cosplay.

How long have you been cosplaying?
Since I was 16.
What got you into the hobby?
We were recruiting members for the school Anime club, and Charlie thought it would be a good idea for us all to cosplay. I think I made the worst Dragonball uniform ever, but I'm getting a lot better.
Which conventions do you attend?
Usually local ones. I started with SacAnime, but now that my job moves me around, I've gone to Animazement. I hope to eventually go to some of the bigger ones in California and Texas.

Hello everyone!!
I began cosplaying since the end of 2004. My first convention was Yasumicon in FL. I have attended several FL cons, but also got the chance to go to Comic-con last year. I got into cosplaying after finding photos of cosplayers online. I thought it would be something cool to do, so I just got hooked since the very first time XD. I am self-taught, althought I have learned a lot from working as a seamtress. What I love most about cosplay is wonderful friends I have made!!

Hello Everyone!!! :) Nice to "Meet" Everyone...
How long have you been cosplaying? My First Cosplay was about 3 Years ago.
What got you into the hobby? I have a Former Co-Worker/Great Friend that is Really into Anime and Goes to tons Of Conventions Near me, so He kinda got me into it. I enjoyed the whole Idea of it, I guess it helps that Halloween is my Favorite Holiday.
Which conventions do you attend? As of right now I have only Been to Animarathon, Which is a small free con in Toledo. And Yumicon, which I plan to attend again this year. I am hoping that I might start having the extra Cash flow now to go to more of the larger Con's. Though Anxiety Problems tend to Hinder that...
Are you self taught or do you have schooling? Self Taught. I have always loved sewing and making things, though I do have a Great Group of Friends that Do it professionally that I can ask for help if needed...
What do you love the best about cosplay? Definitely the People you meet, and the Fun-ness of dressing up and getting to be someone else for a day.

Hiyo ^^

I haven't had a real cosplay yet (unless a fox tail alone counts :P), but I am working on a TF2 Sniper (BLU Team) for Sac-Anime Summer '09. I got into cosplaying because most of my closer friends are really, really into anime, and they have some really good cosplays. May as well tag along, eh?

My first and only con so far is Sac-Anime Winter '09 in January. The convention is held up in Sacramento, CA. Not as big as ACen or AX, but hey, gotta start somewhere, right? I plan to go to the Summer part of the con, since my first go was so much fun. This time, I'll be ready with a full costume^^

I'm kinda teaching myself as I work on my BLU Sniper cosplay. Sometimes, learning via doing is the best way to do it. If I need the help, though, I have a friend that is really good at making cosplays, and would be more than willing to lend a helping hand :)

I like cosplaying probably for the same reasons as LuffyMugen. You meet all types of awesome people, and have lots of fun doing so. It's just so cool to be able to dress up and be someone else. And the conventions just have that atmosphere to them. It's an enjoyable and inviting escape from normality.

Hey hey everyone! My good friend Cobaph and I have just returned from Anime Expo 2009 (in LA)!
We cosplayed as Touhou Project characters. Pics up at my page later. haha

How long have you been cosplaying?
Well, if you count my Sailor Moon costume I had in 2nd grade...10+ years? haha
But in all seriousness, I just started.

What got you into the hobby?
Well, one thing's for sure-- I've always wanted to be someone NOT me.

Which conventions do you attend?
My very first one was the one I just came back from-- Anime Expo 2009! haha

Are you self taught or do you have schooling?
Self-taught. I'm one stubborn child: if I don't get it right, I keep doing it until I do. haha

What do you love the best about cosplay?
Honestly? Being stopped and asked to get a photo of. It's like saying, "You did an awesome job with these costumes."
Subtle compliments ftw!

Nice to meet you! :)

Mostly during Halloween.

Seeing others costumes and thinking of how much fun it is to do something like that.

Which conventions do you attend?
I have yet to attend any conventions due to income problems but I will be attending the next convention that has a ReBoot panel.

Are you self taught or do you have schooling?
Self taught. I've had a lot of help throughout my different costumes but my work with my Luke Skywalker costume has taught me a great deal.

What do you love the best about cosplay?
Being able to look and pretend to be the characters you are dressing up as.

Selina Kyle here.
I don't cosplay exclusively as the Cat Woman. I prefer freedom of range.
I have a background in theater, so I suppose that's where it started for me. Halloween has influenced me greatly as well. I love that I can be myself, and be something completely different behind the veil at the same time.
