Left 4 Dead: Crash Course InpressionsToday saw the launch of a brand new campaign for the original Left 4 Dead, entitled Crash Course. One of the few benefits to being unemployed for another two weeks is being able to play things like this the morning they come out. The main thing of note with this campaign is that it is only two chapters, unlike the five chapters of all of the original campaigns. This resulted in a play through that took 28 minutes with the group of three I was playing with & that was with some looking around. The first thing we noticed was weapons... Lots & LOTS of weapons. I kept waiting for the huge overwhelming moment that would require there to be what seemed like more then half a dozen weapon drops per chapter but it never came. The first chapter includes a horde section in the middle that involves firing a giant cannon, which led to a fun holy crap moment from the player that was standing next to it & didn't know it was coming. The second chapter of course ends with a traditional finale moment, in an area that allows for a couple of different defense options, including the top of a bus or an overhang. While I only got to play through once in co-op, I think between the layout & the short length of this campaign, it will shine in versus mode. Overall, it's a worthy addition to Left 4 Dead & my first play through was really fun. Even for the 560 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360, I'd recommend it for fans of the game. |
