It's a Conspiracy
Hey guys. I haven't really been on in a while, and I've got a touch of the insomnia, so I figured I'd update my journal.
It was December 18th, 2005. I remember because it was exactly one week before Christmas. I, along with three friends, was lined up outside Best Buy in the hopes of getting an Xbox 360. This particular night was met with some pretty strong rain. Unfortunately, none of us owned a tent or had enough money beyond what we needed for our 360s to run into the mall to buy one. So we called around to see if any of our other friends owned a tent and was willing to drive it out to us. A few calls were unsuccessful, but finally we were met with this response: "I don't have a tent, but... I have a tarp."
So there we were, sitting in lawn chairs, huddled close together so the tarp could stretch over all four of us, holding it up with nothing but the tops of our heads. For 18 hours. And despite the tarp, we all ended up soaked anyway. It's difficult to say how much sleep I really got that night. Any sleep I got always seemed to be in 5 minute increments. This was simultaneously the greatest and the most horrible night of my life. Everything about that night was just awful, but it was an amazing experience that I honestly wouldn't trade for anything in the world. It's hard to explain, but there you go.
December 19th, 2008. One day after the three-year warranty expires on my 360. RRoD. But I'm not particularly upset. From everything I've heard, the X-Clamp fix is a surefire way to get it working again. I just need the right stuff to get started. I figured this would happen at some point, and I'm actually pretty impressed the old girl made it as long as she did. But still, you have to admit that the timing is pretty baffling.
Oh well. This is a good opportunity to get some Wii/DS games I've been looking at for a while now but haven't gotten. Big 360 titles kept coming out and I just couldn't make time for them. There's plenty of time now.
My 21st birthday is on the 28th. Not sure what exactly I'm doing yet, but several people have advised me not to try doing 21 shots. It seemed like good advice at first, but every time I hear it, it sounds more and more like a challenge.
Have a fun/safe holiday everybody.

TFU
Didn't go to the Force Unleashed launch party last night. :( But I did pick the game up on my way home from class today. I'm a couple missions in, and I gotta say it's a helluva lot of fun. I can kinda see what some of the reviews were saying about the boss fights being awkward, but it really doesn't take much away from the overall experience.
So far, it seems like the story is going to be pretty sick. That's all I'll say about it. No need to spoil anything. But make no mistake. This isn't just a game based on Star Wars. This is Star Wars.

Okay...
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this...
Of course the writing/comedy is intact, but... well, if it's not machinima, then it's not really Red vs. Blue. Sure traditional animation gives the RT boys the freedom to do things they couldn't have ever done before, but half the fun of RvB was seeing how they overcame the limitations of the game engine. From Season 1 right up to Reconstruction, they've been getting better and better at making the series seem more cinematic. Now it just seems like they're turning their backs on all of that. If it could have been a regular cartoon all this time, then what was the point?
Maybe I'm being a bit over-dramatic. I hope so. I wish nothing but the best for RoosterTeeth. I only worry because I care.
