I actually finished building most of my new computer two months ago, but I've been adding bits and pieces to it since then, and it's now completely finished. I thought I'd share my specs with you. If you recall, my last update was when I purchase my new Dell laptop.

New Computer - homebuilt

A Merry New Year from Twokinds

Hello, everyone. Thank you all for supporting my comic and art through this year. Since starting 4 years, a lot of things have changed, but it's been a refreshing experience. I feel sorry for not updating this journal often. Unfortunately, when having to manage multiple websites, there's not a whole lot of time left to write up a journal. On top of that, my life is rather boring, so there's really not much for me to say.

But with so many people watching me, I feel obligated to at least try and update you guys on my comings and goings, in the hope that at least a few of you actually care to read them.

I'm actually sick right now. I've had a cold ever since Christmas day, in fact. Perfect timing, I know. I haven't had a cold in years, but unfortunately I've been getting out and about outside more often then usual these days and staying up later then I should. It was inevitable that I would get sick one of these days. I do wonder why it had to be over the holidays, though. Fate is cruel.

However, there is some good news. My father is doing better. His lung cancer is on the retreat, and the cancer in his spine seems to be completely gone, which is very good news. He has a very arthritic lower spine, which causes him some problems getting around, but that seems to be doing better now too. I've been helping my dad around the house and driving him to and from the hospital. I don't mind, it's really not much trouble, especially now that I'm on vacation from college.

Speaking of college, things are going well. I've completed my first semester with no trouble, and I'm all set for the next. I have only two classes for Winter, but one is 3 1/2 hours long. I'll live with it.

As for Twokinds, things are going along pretty well. Sorry I've only been updating once a week or so, but there's a lot of stuff going on with life, as you can probably tell. Nevertheless, I'm happy with the way my art is progressing. Twokinds will resume updating the day after New Years.

So, happy holidays everyone. See you all in a few months when I next update this thing.

Happy 20th Birthday

I'm 20 now. Yep, the big 2-0. I've used up a quarter of my life expectancy.

Well, really it was my birthday yesterday, the 28th; I just hadn't gotten around to telling anyone yet. I'm not actually depressed about it, I just feel a bit old, is all. I mean, I know I'm not really old. I just never thought I'd reach this point, I guess. It's hard to explain, but I guess there's plenty of other people who have felt the same way.

In any case, yeah, I'm out of my `teens and on the fast-track to adulthood. Woohoo... Now if you'll excuse me, I have more college forms to fill out...

It's offical, I'm headed to college

Just got done finishing out my application forms. Hopefully I'll be accepted somewhere. :) Haven't yet, but I have to go somewhere this year or I'll end up becoming disowned by my parents soon enough for mooching off them for so long.

I've applied to Raymond Walters College, which is a part of the University of Cincinnati. With any luck, I'll be accepted and I can start working on an Associates Degree in radiologic technology. That's the field I'm certainly planning on getting into.

I know some people expected me to go into animation or some form of art design; heck, even I did. However, I've found that art simply isn't something I think I can get into. I enjoy drawing because it's fun, but I don't really think I'd want to be forced to draw something I don't want to. It's a hobby which I am dedicated to, but as a full-time job, I don't think it's for me. Unless of course that job was making comic books.

But don't worry, I'm not planning on stopping my comic art. I will continue to work on comics as I am doing radiology. Radiological work will be my "real" job, and comic making will be my hobby.

Journal Update

Okay, people are really bugging me for a new journal. So, what shall I write about...

well, first off, do not get a Wii. Seriously, it's addicting. I'm not a console gamer, I'm a computer gamer. I have a powerful laptop which plays anything I need, so I rarely have any use for consoles. But, the Wii was relatively inexpensive, so I finally got my own a week ago.

And for the last week all I've been doing is playing with my Wii. (teehee, a pun...) It may be considered a kiddy console, but I admit it is fun. I recently completed the new Zelda game for the Wii. Zelda practically stole my soul for most of the time, taking me 43 total hours from start to finish. I didn't get everything in the game, but... well, I'm done with it for now.

Other then Zelda, the only other game I've bought is Trauma Center: Second Opinion. It also fun, but not as addicting. I'm still not convinced that the Wii will be a successful console in the long run, it always depends on how much support it gets from developers. I'll see in the next year what kinds of games come out for it.

It wasn't easy getting ahold of the console. I had to wait in line two hours prior to the store opening during a snow storm. I was smart enough to wait in my car though. Some of those poor guys actually waited in the cold. I was one out of 15 who managed to snag a ticket. The Wii is hard to come by in my area still.

Other then the Wii, I'm working to get into college. Filling out student aid forms and applications currently. Although I hope to someday work in animation, I'm applying for some sort of medical field right now. If I'm going to support myself, I'm going to need more then artwork. Twokinds makes me practically nothing. In fact, it costs me to keep Twokinds up. This is the unfortunate part about being a webcomic artist, but the experience I gain is worth it, I believe.

As of yet, I do not have any plans on producing any art tutorials and I can't afford to spend the time to give anyone tips or suggestions on their art. Please, do not send me messages asking me for any of these. I'm afraid I simply do not want to teach people how to draw, I just enjoy doing it.

Finally, don't feel bad if I don't respond to your emails. Honestly, I'm not doing it on purpose. I'm simply bad at getting back to all the emails I receive. Right now I have a large build up of unanswered emails that I have yet to get to.

Alright, that's a journal entry if I've ever seen one. I'm out.

New laptop has arrived

I am very happy right now. I have finally recieved the new laptop I was holding a fundraiser for months ago on my Twokinds website. Compared to my older laptop, this one is a monster. I'll let the specs speak for themselves.

Old Laptop - Compaq Presario v2000
14-inch widescreen ( 1280 x 768 )
Intel Celeron M 1.4GHz
512MB of RAM
Intel Extreme 2 integrated graphics
40GB HDD

New Laptop - Dell e1705
17-inch widescreen w/ Truelife ( 1920 x 1200 )
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz
2GB of RAM
nVIDIA Geforce 7900GS
120GB HDD

I haven't gotten much of a chance to try it out yet, but I've got all the trial software uninstalled and all my graphics software up. Everything's working great.

Now, I think I'll install and play some Oblivion

The Twokinds Map

People have been bugging me to make a Twokinds map for a while, so here's a sketch of it. It's not finished, but I've drawn colored arrows to show where Trace and Co. have gone, and where they are going. Be warned, it points out where they'll be heading throughout the rest of the story. But I don't think it spoils anything. I'll be making a more refined version later, but for now, here ya go.
