ALPHA OUTPOST BASE ORIENTATIONALPHA OUTPOST.....********.....ORIENTATION TOUR:PRESENT HOME OF THE 12TH COMBAT CALVARY REGIMENT Greetings, I am your Base Orientation Recorded Information Navigational Gadget, B.O.R.I.N.G. for short. This device will provide information concerning Alpha Outpost and its present occupant, the 12th Regiment. For security reasons, this device will scramble all data within 8 hours of initial activation. If you have arrived via Pelican, you will clearly see the Base’s Motor Pool. We also have the honor of hosting the trials of the new Tiger Tank. After walking up a short ramp, you will enter the Base through the Main Entrance, you will find Communications, Surveillance and C&C. If you have arrived via Teleporter, you will be on the roof of the base. If your AI slot has been pre-entered into our system, the panel that opens onto a shaft leading into the Base will be open. If you are not cleared, that panel will not open and you will have to remain on the roof until someone is alerted and responds to your presence. Once you pass through the panel and proceed down the shaft, you will arrive in the main corridor and you will see the plas-crete panel that protects C-S-C&C from small arms fire. If you travel away from the Main Entrance, you will arrive in the Mess Hall. Due to security, you will be briefed personally regarding its function and purposes of the Base’s Defense Operations Control Room which is presently known as C-S-C&C. However, it is safe to say that this is the primary nexus upon which Alpha Outpost’s automatic and semi-automatic defenses are monitored and activated. Returning to the Mess. The Galley is located to the right and the Base’s Rec Room is to the left. At the rear of the Rec Area, to the left, you will find a mail box system – one of the boxes might have your name already on it, and behind it is a small annex with a post exchange system where you can obtain some basic necessities. To the left, is an automated coffee shop provided to us by Halo-Bucks, where you will find that occasionally needed special espresso jolt. If you were to continue to turn left, you will notice the entrances to the latrines. Returning to the Mess, straight ahead, and opposite of the main corridor, is a ramp to the first lower level. Walking down this ramp you will find three primary corridors and behind you and slightly to the left, is the ramp leading to the next lower level. On the First Lower Level, on the corridor to the right, are specialty areas such as the Communications Room, Armor Repair Center and the Armory and to the left of the ramp is Officer’s Row where you will find the offices/quarters of the 12th Regiment’s Officers. The corridor straight ahead is the Enlisted Row with offices/quarters of our Senior Sergeants and further down, you will discover the barracks, Men’s section is on the left and Women’s section is on the right. As we descend the ramp to the Second Lower Level, you will find yourself in another nexus of corridors. The corridor directly in front of you leads to our Gym, pool and a section called the Anger Dome. The corridor to the right has our First Aid Station and Operating Theater. From that location is a special escape shaft to the surface in the event of structural failure or other catastrophic emergency. To the left, you will find various specialty shops and offices as well as class rooms and briefing centers. However, if one were to descend the ramp to the Third and lowest level, you will find the Brig. And, the absolute lowest point in the complex is the "HOLE" which is a cell inside the Brig. This is not a "happy" place and is best avoided. It is on the third level that one will also find the maintenance facilities for the Base as a whole. Power rooms, water processing, boilers, ventilation system with Heating/Air Conditioning. The maintenance levels are secured with only officers and designated individuals allowed access. Another place of special interest is The Mine. This facility can be visited just to see what a functioning mine is or, you can volunteer your services and augment your pay or, if you are on the wrong side of a punishment detail, you may find yourself performing duties in the mine to maintain the mine in peak status or for the benefit of the unit as a whole. I trust you have enjoyed this B.O.R.I.N.G. briefing and we hope it will assist you in quickly familiarizing yourself to your new home. Welcome to the 12th Regiment |
