FIRING RANGEFIRING RANGE SPECIFICATIONSThe firing range consists of nine lanes. 3 lanes are assigned for pistol, 3 lanes are assigned to battle rifle and 3 lanes are assigned to sniper rifle. Each lane runs for 500 yards though the greater distances are only necessary for the sniper rifle lanes. The pistol lanes have targets stationed at 10 yards and 20 yards. The battle rifle lanes have targets stationed at 50 yards, 100 yards and 200 yards. The sniper rifle lanes have targets stationed at 300 yards and 500 yards. The targets themselves are the standard half torso pop up variety which operate on a compressed air line as well as an electrical power line to both activate and drop the target at predetermined times during the cycles but also register and transmit hits/scores. The targets can also be controlled manually through the targeting computer annex radio linked to the targets sub-processors. Or, allowed to run one of several patterns. At the conclusion of each run, a score tally is provided. Further, if one is monitoring the targeting computer while another shoots, the system will specifically indicate, via a screen, the location of the hit (Ie: Head Shot, Left Shoulder, Right Shoulder, Center Mass, etc.) Further, the target strike/scoring computer has a palm print identification system that links to allocation of range lane or range run (For the vehicle run) with a removable DNA linked data stick that a soldier can carry and retain his scores and download them in the computers in the Barracks. This is for retaining and comparing (personal) high-scores for the shooting ranges. |
