AOB - Pets...PET PROTOCOL1) A pet must be pre-approved by the Base Commander, or, if the Base Commander is not available for a period of more than 72 hours, two officers of the 12th Regiment may provide “qualified” approval subject to a final decision by the Base Commander. 2) A Pet owner is responsible for the health and care of their pet. As such, the pet must become active within the RP during a period of time when the poster is active in the RP. If the owner fails in this responsibility for seven days or seven periods of active posting, which ever is longer, then the pet will be subject to a decision by the Base Commander to either put the pet up for adoption or have the pet removed from the RP. 3) A Pet owner who will be absent from the RP for a period of time must either obtain someone who will care for their pet during the time that they are away or take their pet with them when they leave. 4) A Pet owner is responsible for the actions of their pet when they are posting actions taken by their pet. What this means is that if your pet takes an action while under your control that is harmful to the Base, Base Personnel, Visitors, or other Pets, YOU will be held responsible. As such, you may serve time in the Brig and/or your pet may be destroyed. EXAMPLE I am in the area of Beta Outpost and Captain Discopete019’s dog lunges (under the control of Captain Discopete019) out from behind some boxes and kills Pyewacket. At that point, I am allowed to not only kill Captain Discopete019’s dog but also place the Captain under arrest and have him thrown into the Brig. The only exception to that would be if I gave PRIOR approval to Captain Discopete019 to kill my pet. That permission must be in writing and PMed to both the owner of the surviving pet as well as the Base Commander, who will give final approval prior to any pet death by such a drastic means. EXAMPLE I am in the area of Beta Outpost and Captain Discopete019 is out walking his dog (thus under the control of Captain Discopete019). The dog walks over to where I am standing, raises its leg and urinates on my leg. At that point, I am allowed to use NON-TERMINAL measures to respond to the situation and then consider placing Captain Discopete019 under arrest and thrown into the Brig with his dog. 5) A Pet owner is not responsible for the actions of their pet when that pet is under the control of another RPer in the game UNLESS specific authorization was given to the RPer to take actions that are injurious to the RP under Rule 4. At which point both the RPer using the pet in a manner injurious to the RP as well as the owner of the pet will suffer the same fate. 6) The pet will not act in any way that is outside the norm of a “normal” pet in today’s world. To this end, Pets will not be allowed to TALK or hold intelligent conversations. Regarding Pyewacket, you will note that Pyewacket does not, herself, speak but it is the implanted AI that carries on conversations. Further, Pets will not be intentionally or even accidentally experimented upon in order to *boost* their abilities. 7) All pets are considered “fixed” biologically thus they will not be engaging in sexual antics with ANYTHING! See Rule 4 regarding violation of this rule. 8) Pets will not be abused in any way. They will not be gotten drunk/intoxicated on any substance nor will they be dropped off of the Base’s roof to see if they land on their feet, tossed into the mine field, chased by vehicles, held under water or shot at with any object for “fun”. Regarding 12th Regiment’s cats. These pets are presently free range pets and anyone may hold, cuddle, caress, feed or even have them sleep in one’s bed or quarters. Our cats are: Creed, a white male Siamese and about 5 years old. Not very playful but does enjoy hide and seek, Apples, a Burmese kitten about 1 year old who enjoys a toy mouse from time to time, Gabby, a Tonkinese about 3 years old who likes to follow people about, and Koko, a cream colored Siamese male with a dark brown nose.
