August 13th, 2009

Dressed in Black...All Black...

Once again, I prepare for another funeral...On the eve of going to RT:Philly. Its something that I really can't help but think about right now. All the death in my family has to be connected in some way, shape, or form...

Since 2004, I've lost Grandma Holley, Grandpa Holley, my Great Aunt Alice, my Great Aunt Lolene, My 30 year old cousin Mark, My Uncle Jack (Mark's Father), and now my Aunt Linda (Mark's Mom).

Feels like the world is kinda closing in a bit...And what scares me the most, is 3 of those family members had Cancer. Mark and Linda had Lymphoma, Linda even beat it twice, and then she got Liver Cancer that metasticized from her liver to her lungs.

In short...Im tired of death...Im tired of funerals...I just want to get away from it all...

My Nanna died of cancer, and my Poppa's lady friend (companion, if you will) lost her husband to cancer. Hence how they became friends. She has now been diagnosed with cancer.

It seems to be the way of the world these days, and that's tragic.

Sorry for your losses, friend.

I too have had enough of death and cancer. I don't want to have to attend another funeral for a long long time. Personally when I go, I don't want a morbid funeral, I want a big party with plenty of good booze and (I know you hate this) country music especially Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks and of course Colin Raye. You can just tell them I said no tears, just lots of stories, memories and toasts.

Death happens, it's apart of life.

Although they say when a child dies it's pretty common for the parents to go shortly after.
My grandmother got really sick with cancer right after my dad died, then she died almost exactly a year after him.

I know it still sucks though and I'm sorry to hear of your aunt <3

Sorry to hear about your losses. Cancer seems to be claiming a lot of people recently. At least, that I have noticed personally. I hope it won't affect your time in Philly. Try to have fun, and don't dwell to much on the serious stuff.

I'm sorry to hear about all this. I know death is a rough thing to deal with. There was a streak in my life around when my Father died that I had to deal with a chain of deaths including a couple neighbors, my Busia, an Aunt and a couple Uncles. It's rough, but you can't let yourself dwell on them. You'll miss them yes, but things happen. Continue to enjoy yourself and just have fun. Depressed is no way to live.

Death is something that makes you grow up. its not fun, and doesn't always come at the best times, but after you experience death you will grow up in some way.
