RvBTO 2009 part deuxSo, RvBTO Saturday was quite awesome. It started outdoors shooting Awesome On Its Own, moved to a nice hotel and finished in a nearby bar. It had a couple of cool little miracles happen too. The first was the wedding proposal of two dear friends of mine, Ryan and Britte, whom I first met when they first met at RvBTO 06. Hanging out with them was probably the thing I missed most after moving away from Kingston. I couldn't be happier for them celebrating this day with their friends. Congrats again! The wedding will be epic! In the first half of that day I was on B-Roll camera duty. RocketWhore and I helped Microbe print a few interviews with some interesting internet peeps. Internets in Real Life is going to be awesome. I chuckle every time I watch the teaser. Always a unique pleasure to chat with Nico, Martha, Geoff and Griffon, some of the most fascinating and funny individuals on Earth. They've got an aura that commands you to relax and have a great time. It was double cool to have Millie at RvBTO too. During the day we also began recording parts for AOIO: One Week which Joe brilliantly edited and premiered at RT:Philly. It was crazy having so many people ready to go for this project without having to really explain all over again what it was about. Plus it felt so naturally cool to be in the same space and place as people you've done this with before many times. Jeff, RB, Caleb, Barb, Jenga, Zotaku, Machinima, and all the new faces- hope to see you in the next one! Back at the bar, we had a second miracle, which came during the Trocadero set. I wanted to buy a lot of RvB shots, so I politely approached the nervous-looking bartender if she could make about 70. She gulped. No, it could not be done. She did not have enough mixing ingredients. She did not have enough shot glasses. This was not going to be anywhere near affordable. Taking all of these factors into account, pulling it off became the next miracle. Through a combination of inventive algorithms and measuring balances I was able to be charged by an economical accumulated volume and not each individual shot. I somehow amassed a few for free. We went upstairs and found a stash of plastic plum sauce containers in a corner which did fine as shot glasses. So, almost everyone had a shot! *whew* I heard the blues were strong but the reds were tasty. Saturday night was a triumph. Since introductions were out of the way it allowed more time to gel and hang. Switching to the downstairs also added cool intimacy to the surroundings. LINKED MEDIA
