Tonight I'll break my one rule.
I've had one rule about this site and upcoming projects I'm working on.
Don't talk about them.
This came about because when I first started working on things, (this is going waaaay back to when I tried to be a voice actor for online machinama's... god I was young and stupid.) I wouldn't stop talking about them and, they didn't happen. or they would start and then fail. and I got tired of talking up a project that didn't happen, and I got REALLY tired of explaining why the thing I had just spend the last month talking up didn't happen. especially with film projects, since I'd put my heart and soul into them, and then was depressed when they failed, and having people ask why I stopped talking about it was just twisting the knife.
And for a few weeks I thought I was cursed, and every project I talked about failed. That was just the depression setting in.
Obviously, I knew the curse part was BS, but I still didn't talk about stuff till it happened. It's a good habit to get into.
A good example was Jurassic Park. I didn't announce it till after the audition, and not until I had been to the first rehearsal.
But I'm going to break that rule right now. for the past... year, I've been dropping hints about something big.
Since I said I'm holding auditions, I probably should say for what.
Yes folks, like the Joker said, tonight I'm going to break my one rule. I'm going to talk about a upcoming project.
I'm working on a anthology film. 6 different writers and directors. I will be directing and writing one of the segments. It's a small independent project. Very cool, I'm extremely excited about it. I've been working on it all summer, writing my script (which was possibly the hardest thing I've ever written. it really challenged me.) don't want to give it all away, but the basic story is, each story will be a different last man alive story, each done in a different horror genre, ranging from found footage to B&W 50s film, to slasher. It should be really awesome.
We're holding the second round of auditions tomorrow night. Yesterday's went really well. Got a lot of good people in, I'm looking forward to see who we get tomorrow.
So... That's my big one. A bunch of other little stuff going on in the side lines, but that's the big one right now. I've been working on this all year pretty much. And will be working even harder over the next few months. When I get back from England (leaving on the 24th of September, getting back on the 15th on October) I'll be working almost none stop.
Whoa. I've been wanting to post about this since March. That's when I was first asked to be a part of this project. Then I came up with my script idea, sent it to the producer, he linked it, then I wrote it, and re wrote it, and now am working on preproduction.
there's a few longer journals in future talking about the full story of how it happened, but that's for another day.
Since the producer just posted a fan page for it on facebook, and since I have a bunch of you on there, I thought I may as well post about it here now.
Yep. that's my big news. A lot of work, and I mean a LOT of work is ahead of me. it'll be hard, and long, and gruelling. and I can't wait. Since the fall of 2006 I've been trying to make movies. Had a lot of set backs, and a lot of learning experiences. It's so amazing that things are coming together now. I'm so happy to be working on this.
that's also why I've been kinda... MIA for the past few months. That, along with everything else that's going on in my life, I've been really busy. Sorry if I've been absent. It'll probably carry on for a while, but I still try my best to get on when I can. You guys and gals will always be important to me.
Peace, Charlie.
