Editing

Editing film transformed the medium into a ballsy, artistic form. Next to the Director no one has greater narrative control. So why do Editors seem to inhabit an anonymous world? How many brilliant films have been competently put together and how many lousy films have been brilliantly saved thanks to these people? Every time I put something together I think about my favourite editors, like Ottman and Schoonmaker, what they did to inspire and enthrall me.

I guess this is a shoutout to those indispensable technicians, the knights of juxtaposition. The Editors!

So many people on YouTube edit videos just for the hell of it, it's on it's way to becoming an art form itself.

Nicely put sir. I shall raise my internest glass and pay salute to those who make films coherent and cut together with such grace. That had to be the most intriguing music video i have ever seen.

I will confess that while there are particular actors, directors, even composers that are dear to my heart, I couldn't name a single editor. That's really a shame. Though there have been times when I would think "That must have been a bitch to edit...".

editors are magicians, and geniuses. film making i get. I understand it. Editing makes me want to pull my hair out. they take all the raw footage and turn it into a film. it's magic such deep respect for them.

That's definitely one of those aspects nobody considers. Actors, directors... Never editors. It seems like such a minor thing, in comparison, but it, as you said, truly can make or break a film. <3
