Cheshire_CatJournalWhat do I want to be?

October 12th, 2009

What do I want to be?

I don't have a freaking clue. To all those people who just always "knew" what they wanted to be and do, I am so fucking jealous I could scream. I feel no "calling".. no strange allure to one profession or another, one school degree or another.. I feel nothing about the right way.. only know for certain some things I definitely do NOT want to do.

so I am epic fail.

Someone come and put me out of my, and everyone else's misery please and thanks.

Most people settle on what they're comfortable with once they've experienced what they're willing to tolerate. Just gotta get out there and try different stuffs.

I feel the same way. There are things that I passively enjoy. I like to do art. Do I want to do art professionally? No. I like learning languages. Do I want to write language text books, or teach for the rest of my life? Nope. Trouble is, I can't figure out what it is I do want to do. That's partly why I came to Japan. I figure a few years here teaching English and killing time would maybe enlighten me about what I want to do for the rest of my life. It's been 6 months and I feel no more enlightened than I did before. It seems like if I do something that I really love for two long, I get burned out and end up disliking it after a while. Like art. I really like doing it, but I think I did too much in college. I haven't really done that much artistically after graduating. Aside from the commission I did for Paris' mom, I've only done one drawing, about a month ago. I think more than anything, I like school, but that's a fast way to rack up loads of debt. *sigh*

It took me 10-plus years to figure out what I wanted to be and what my passion was, and now that I've found it I really don't see myself doing anything else any time soon. It may take awhile, but you'll figure out what you were meant to do sooner or later........and we'll all be right here to support you.

Bullshit. If anyone's telling you that you need a calling or a plan, they're full of their own unfulfilled dreams. And trust me, those aren't fun. Find a job you don't hate, pay bills, eat food. It really doesn't need to be more complicated than that.

It's good to enjoy or job, or "career". But, on another note, A job is a job. When I leave work, I leave it until I go back the next day. Do I like it? There are days I love what I do, and there are days I wish a semi hit me before I turned into the parking lot. You have a lot of expectations that are forced on you darling dear... Do something that makes it possible for you to enjoys life after work <3

you are not an epic fail, you have just proven you are just human.
it is easy to know what you don't want, much harder to know what you do want.
don't worry too much, you're an awesome person.

If you can find a job where you don't feel the urge to check the time every 10 minutes , well it's a start . That's not me yet . I can relate.
