AOB - Mutant Bears - Century - T.O.A Centurion is composed of 10 decades.Each decade is composed of 8 Mutant Bear Males and 2 Mutant Bear Females. At present, there are no cubs. Each Male Bear is armed with a special shield composed of Instacrete, sword and dagger composed of Titanium 50 and standard boiled leather armor and extremity guards as well as a padded leather helmet. Also, each Male Bear carries either a heavy grade shovel or a pickaxe or axe. Each Female Bear is armed with a dagger composed of Titanium 50 and carries the necessaries of camp life. All Male Bears are trained in the use of sword and dagger. Also, each Male Bear is very familiar with the use of shovel, pickaxe or axe. Each decade is led by a decanus who is elected by the decade's Male Members {And yes, it is a common joke that every decade gets the anus it deserves} Each decade also has a special skill set. A decade's Male Bears can be superior in the Sword, the javelin, the sling, the bow, the Bola or its members are Specialist Bears such as Engineer, Mystic or Forester. A Century is typically composed of 3 decades of Sword Bears, 2 decades of Javelin Bears, 2 decades of Archer Bears, 1 decade of Sling Bears, 1 decade of Bola Bears and one decade of Specialist Bears. In a typical march, each decade will either march four abreast or two abreast, depending on terrain or conditions. In a typical offensive engagement with the ability to plan and position the decades prior to the engagement, the three decades of Sword Bears form the front line, the two decades of Javelin Bears are on either side of the second line with the archers in the center and the third line is composed of the Sling Bear decade on one flank, the Bola Bear decade on the other and the Archer Bear decade in the center. The Specialist Bear decade remains to the rear, offering support when needed to either flank. In a Turtle Formation, the line of march has each Mutant Bear move very close to one another so that the shields overlap on the front, sides and rear and a shield roof will be created by those inside the formation. In a typical defensive engagement with the ability to plan and position the decades prior the engagement, the two decades of Archer Bears form the core of a unit with two decades of Sword Bears front and read and one decade of Javelin Bears on either flank. The one decade of Sling Bears has a decade of Sword Bears to its front and one decade of Javelin Bears to their flanks. The Bola Bears work as an independent, flanking type unit to dart in and out of the two main groups to thrown their Bolas and ensnare their enemy. The Engineer Bears assemble a Scorpion and launch hard wood shafts into the enemy's position, attempting to strike officers of the opposing force. The Mystic Bears work on various fire/chemical weapons as well as deploy the fire arrow box, using such weapons as necessary and under the supervision of a Forester Bear who is generally a non-combatant but will wield a shield with his brother bears. When on the march, the Century does not utilize full entrenchment of a camp site but instead depends on a wall of shields beyond which each decade keeps watch for part of the night while the other bears sleep. Once a camp site is selected that will be used for more than a night, the Male Bears dig a perimeter ditch with the excavated soil used to set up a rampart inside the line of the ditch. Trees can be cut under the direction of the Forester to create towers within the rampart. Such towers, if created, are disassembled and the wood carried with the Century for use in the next camp. The Female Bears dig such items as wells, latrines and middens. |
