As an employee of the [Canadian] Federal Government, we're actually discouraged to work weekends... or any OT, for that matter. The operating budgets just don't allow it. If we do have to work outside normal business hours they usually pay us in time off, rather than additional money.
That being said, there were a few weekends in the past few years when I've come in and worked half a Saturday or so, just to catch up... on my own, for free. I know... I'm an idiot
