more updates. with photos!

Now listening to Time is Running Out by Muse.

yes I'm stealing a page from BigNiceJohn with the "now playing" but, but this song has been on a near constant repeat on my MP3 player for the past few days. it has the perfect sound for rushing to get everything done in time, and never giving up.

Hi everyone. I am so freaking busy lately. it's awesome. I honestly can say I love my life. You know I'm busy, I know it. I'm trying to distract myself right now.

See, tomorrow I start filming my movie. Yes, tomorrow, I film, my movie. first day of production. we shoot Friday Saturday and Sunday. I'm ready, but I'm also nervous as hell right now, and kinda freaking out. so to take my mind off it, and chill for a bit, I'm going to update you and some stuff I've done in the past few weeks. and post photos.

Pre production can run you raged. I'm so tired right now. I think I even look run down. Can you tell?

Just kidding, that was me back during the Zombie walk, the weekend before Halloween. my clothes are also ripped and covered in stage blood. it was fun. I mentioned I went on the zombie walk, just never posted a photo. A friend of mine did the makeup, it doesn't show so much in the photo, but it's awesomely done, she put on liquid latex, then peeled some back so it looked like parts of my skin were falling off under the blood. it was so cool.

Honestly though, pre production is lots of work. I never thought I'd use my phone as much as I am, for the last week I've called about 10 people a day. so much phone calling. but it's all paid off, filming tomorrow. woo.

next up, remember when I said I was in boondock saints 2? well, I saw the film. short version is it was awful. it's just... really bad. has a few funny moments, but over all it's painful. BUT, you can see me in the film. so that's kinda cool.

after seeing the film I hung out with the group of people who were extras in the film. also Troy Duffy was there (director of the first and second film.)

Yeah I didn't like his script, but it was decently directed, plus I still like the first one. not great, but is fun. sequel, aside from a few cool shots, and me being in it... sigh. But I saw it for free, so that was cool.

Speaking of movies I saw for free, next up is I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. based on the book of the same name by Tucker Max. the book was funny. it's sickening, and Tucker Max is a pretty loathsome human being, but he's a entertaining writer. and it's a great novelty book, mainly in the "holy shit I can't believe there are people like this in the world." The film was awful. the only redeeming point is the character of Drew (sling blade in the book) he was a good actor, and had great comedic timing. the rest of the film was bland, obnoxious, and unlikable. the book has a sleazy charm, the film didn't.

but Tucker Max was there as well, so I got the meet him and he signed my book.

Ever the narcissistic asshole, he signed my book "Hi Charlie, I'M AWESOME. Tucker Max."

but saw it for free, so can't complain. (I love having friends in the film schools around Toronto, they throw these free events and tell me when and where.)

so... that's been some stuff going on lately. plus all the pre production stuff. Filming tomorrow. so excited. wish me luck folks, I doubt you'll see me online at all over the weekend.

Peace, Charlie.

I still totally regret not heading down last year, but oh well. Glad it was a good time.

Also, good luck with filming... You will do great things, surely.

Way back in 2004, I was a freshman on my college swim team. Two of the people there (a guy and a girl) absolutely loved Tucker Max. I didn't need to read his stuff... they told me everything. My loathing of them (for many reasons) turned me off from anything the writer could have done (although I doubt I would have liked it anyway). I honestly think there's enough badly written chauvinistic books... we don't need better writers making those kind of books more acceptable.

And what's worse? Those two people are now engaged... so they're going to have scummy kids, too.

Maybe if I click my heals together 3 times I can make the film good. I really want it to be as good as the first. I will watch it good or bad... I have too, but I hope I like it because the original is in my top 3 of greatest films of all time. Hopefully I can see it next week.

Good luck filming tomorrow sir!

One of the things I always try to do the day before I start filming something is watch some old stuff that you've done. Look for inspiration, things to improve on, and why you love the art of film making so much.

Btw, I Muse.

As others have said, and I'm not sure if it's appropriate to say this to a director, break a leg. Or possibly one of those directors' chairs. Or... um... a megaphone.

Troy Duffy VS Tucker MAX ego-off.

Pay to see that. Yeah, I thought the sequel was decently shot, but more a letter to fans than trying to make something biting but different. I think that's what made the first so great, it had no fans no one knew what it was. It was slowly discovered. I saw it when I was 16 so of course it was one of the funniest movies evaaaaaaar! I'll drink to the man for sticking to his guns for ten years just to get another movie made but I probably won't buy the DVD.

As for Tucker Max... buddy of mine was obsessed with seeing that movie. He'd tell me all the time about how Tucker kept folks constantly updated on his blog and how it was going to be AWESOME. I had a feeling from day 1 this movie was going to suck. The only thing that swayed me momentarily was this interview he gave where he seems to come off honestly a bit. Probably should've known better, it was all just to convince folks these guys were on the level. My buddy ended up seeing the movie... he haaaaaaaated it. Said that everything Tucker said on his blog was bullshit and now he's gone and burned every bridge in Hollywood. Not surprised really. I wonder if he'll be looked up the same way folks look upon Boondock Saints years later?
