A little updateLately I haven't had the desire to spend much time on this site. I still pop on and read through things, but I haven't been commenting on much. Work and spending time with the girlfriend (Beth) and other people has taken up a lot of my time, but even when I've had downtime I just haven't felt the urge to come here like I used to. For me this isn't a bad thing. I'm happy where my life is right now.Yesterday was the start of my 6th and final semester of my MFA studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This is a mixed blessing. I'm sick of this school and this town right now, and I couldn't hope to graduate sooner. It also means job hunting, which I've discussed a bit briefly before. I've also come to the conclusion that what I'm doing right now at Krannert isn't necessarily what I want to do for my first job. I would love to work at a University teaching technical theatre, but I have no desire to go into the commercial or professional sector. As such I'm also looking for some alternatives that still have ties to my degree and what I enjoy, but isn't necessarily buried in traditional theatre. If you have any suggestions let me know. On a really super happy note of my life, Beth has revealed her gift for my graduation to me. She wanted to keep it a secret, but it involves some heavy planning on both our parts. She wants to take me to Disney World for Star Wars Weekends!! |
