Cameron's Avatar!just got back from the midnight showing.Complete crap! This is probably the most expensive piece of derivative drivel ever to eat a piece of my wallet. Sure the CG was good, great even, but the story was the lowest calibur, the most predictable, with horrible pacing and hardly any character development at all. There were so many interesting things that were completely glossed over. To top it off, you get smacked in the face with a bunch of recycled GW Bush one-liners and a pound of Neopagan/Environmentalist propaganda. They even throw in a space red-neck for good measure. This movie is set nearly 150 years in the future! You'd think they'd have gotten over it... To make matters worse, the theater I saw it at was only showing it in 3D. If I had known that I would have stayed home. If you want to see it, just rent Dances with Wolves and Battle for Terra, and be sure to pick up a bag'o'shrooms to go with it. I for one want my money back. |
