I think the whole Texas/Nevada thing was a joke for BGC.
Bear in mind that Tex is a ghost possessing a robot's body. So even if she's 'dead', there's nothing to say she can't be repaired and make her return. She won't have her invisibility or Omega/O'Malley (supposedly) since the Meta snatched that, but Church still needs a love interest. Burnie needs the ego boost.
