All I ask is you make nice-nice before asking for some friendship... IS THAT TOO FUCKING HARD TO ASK? ~No Random Friend Request~

Lopez the Heavy
It's never easy losing a pet, no matter how little time you get to bond with them. While away on my vacation to Tennessee this past Christmas I left Lopez in the care of a "reputable" bird sitter. She negligently left one of her larger birds out like she normally does and he attacked poor little Lopez through his cage, cutting and crushing his right foot. She rushed him to the vet and he survived the splinting and dressing the first time. Had I been here I would have rather they had taken the foot then and there. Anesthesia can be hard on anyone, let alone a tiny bird. It would have been a harder life, but he'd still be here for me to take care of, and he wouldn't have had to risk another round of going under.
He was getting stronger each day, and even sang a little on his last morning. His appt for his check up and redressing was at noon but he kept getting bumped for other emergencies. Sadly the foot was dying and had to be taken. After I had gotten that terrible news I got a call mins later from the vet saying that before she could begin it was too late. He had passed on.
Again, Lopez may have been only around for a short time, but he had so much personality. He'd only sing if I was playing some classic rock or was mashing away on Guitar Hero. He'd hang upside down in his cage and did the best impersonation of Batman that I have ever seen before. And being a parrotlet he liked to be held in a small towel or in the nook of your shirt and just sleep nestled to your chest. He was my bird, and now he's gone. He was tough for his size and he'll be missed.
